Creative work -- even normal work done creatively -- needs periods of time to slow down.

Ideally, one would have an intentional reprieve in each season, to touch the inner truth of oneself rather than simply react to the everyday world.

That is the purpose of the retreat we are offering at Shantigar.

The air, the quiet, and the light at Shantigar allow a settling of your nervous system.

The pristine beauty of the place is enhanced by touches of human artistry.
In the solitude of the woods, the paths have been thoughtfully tended for decades, mindful of supporting the soul's journey.

The studio where we gather has a spare and spacious quality, its octagonal shape evoking ancient wisdom and wholeness.

It’s a place where you can truly and deeply let go of the tethers of your everyday life, and still have a hot shower, delicious meals, and the rich company of other people dedicated to summoning the creative muse from within.

Bring your dreams and projects, at any stage of development.

Or simply come to move and be moved, in this glowing and never-to-be-recaptured time of the year.

Your inner muse is calling ...

Here's what participants in last year's workshop had to say:

" ... A powerful weekend. The energy of the group is always an amazing field to play and swim in. I was very compelled by the juxtaposition of Continuum as movement and Continuum spurring artistic expressions. Shantigar was a perfect setting, bringing together many of the things my family and I love: camping, quiet, Continuum, con-viviality."

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel so blessed. I am inspired to live more fully."

"Making the spontaneous paintings was amazing and a treasure."

"Painting out of moving was incredible. So enjoyed the meditation walk in the woods."

"The space is absolutely marvelous and inspiring. The teachers were supportive, authentic, and available. Camping site gorgeous."

"A powerful trio of teachers."
