Crow Wood Ladies Team

Congratulations must go to the Ladies Team who have won the Elizabeth Welsh Greensomes League. The Trophy will be presented at Palacerigg in November. Well done Ladies!

The team also finished mid table in the Strathclyde League with 15.5 points behind winners Lanark and runners up Wishaw. That performace was one of the best for many years, finishing ahead of Strathaven and Hollandbush.

Garnkirk Open

Last weeks 36 hole Garnkirk Trophy (for handicaps 6 or less) was won by Andy Fairbairn from Cawder GC, with a superb 141.

Considering the extremely windy conditions all players endured, this was an excellent days play. Well done Andy!

Last Tuesday’s Medal (13th September) was won by James Rooney, with a fine 66 playing off a handicap of 5. Congratulations James!

Pitchmarks on Greens

Even as the nights draw in, and the summer heads towards the autumn, the greens still remain in superb condition, and they should do so for the forseeable future.

However, it is still obvious that a number of people fail to fix their own pitchmarks on the greens, which then take far longer to heal than a properly repaired one would. This is especially evident after a few days rain, and the greens become a little softer.

Can we remind everyone they have a responsibility to leave the course as you would like to find it by repairing pitch-marks, replacing divots and raking bunkers. This is part of the etiquette and respect of the game, and ensures everyone enjoys their time on the course as much as possible.
