Behold!

By Joni Ames

This morning I was listening for what the Lord might say and I simply heard the word "Behold!" Then He said, "Tell my people I said it's time to Behold."

Behold is used over 1,300 times in the original King James Bible. It always precedes an important message, announcement, or direction from God.

The Strongs Concordance says it means:
Look! Look upon (what I'm showing you)! Be aware, consider, perceive

Here's how Websters Dictionary breaks all of that down:

Aware means:
having knowledge; conscious; cognizant: aware of danger.
informed; alert; knowledgeable; sophisticated: She is one of the most politically aware young women around.
3. Watchful

Consider means:
to think carefully about, especially in order to make a decision; contemplate; reflect on: He considered the cost before buying the new car.
to regard as or deem to be: I consider the story improbable.
to think, believe, or suppose: We consider his reply unsatisfactory.
to bear in mind; make allowance for: The arrest was justified if you consider his disorderly behavior.
to pay attention to; regard: He considered the man for some time before speaking to him.
to regard with respect, thoughtfulness, honor, etc.; esteem.
to think about (something that one might do, accept, buy, etc.): to consider a job in Guatemala.

Perceive means:
to become aware of, know, or identify by means of the senses: I perceived an object looming through the mist.
to recognize, discern, envision, or understand: I perceive a note of sarcasm in your voice. This is a nice idea but I perceive difficulties in putting it into practice.

He's saying to us, "Pay attention! Stop thinking, reasoning, imagining, plotting, and trying to figure things out. Listen to Me and what I'm about to tell you! I'm the one with your answers, not you!"

In other words, God is saying, "Give Me your undivided attention."

There are obviously some things about to occur that He wants us to pay attention to HIM in, not the event(s). It's imperative that we not look at things through our own eyes or opinions, but to strongly be aware of His voice, opinions, and directions.

Let us not be like those in John 7:26 who did not acknowledge who He was nor what He was saying.

This isn't intended to bring fear. It could be that God is saying to pay attention to a turn in the road for you career wise, to pay attention to His direction in your travels, to pay attention to His direction regarding the words you speak, or any number of things.

Behold! Don't be distracted. Watch! Listen! Focus on and heed Him. No matter what occurs - personally, nationally, or internationally - it's vital that we focus on and behold HIM.

Love & Blessings,
Joni
