Marty's Message

Our all-college meeting is one of the most energizing gatherings of the year. I enjoy our collegiality, enthusiasm and passion for students. I am always so impressed with our approach to the challenges we face. Over the past couple of years, we could have been slowed down by budget cuts, but instead, we will have opened three new bachelor’s, two new master’s and one new doctoral degree program by the end of this school year!

Our goal for this year is to continue our high level of success by “creating bicycles” as a way to go further, and faster and with less effort. The idea of “bicycles” is used as a metaphor for creating new ways to do things differently, finding more support and becoming more efficient. We create bicycles by collaborating, adapting, realigning, changing and partnering.

Our faculty and staff have proven over and over their ability to create “bicycles” in order to rise above the increasing demands and decreasing budgets. The more bicycles we create, the further we will go.

Marty Loy,
Dean
