Outcome Measurement - is it improving and transforming service delivery?

It is apparent from the list of top 10 most read articles that value of rehabilitation and outcome measure features highly. Clearly, measuring outcomes is a key policy that is regarded as a key step in identifying and commissioning a more cost effective healthcare service. But it requires the development of a culture that values constant improvement and measurement. Is it actually making a difference? NHS Clinical Soft Intelligence Service - Final Report

From 1 August 2016, NHSCSI was no longer moderating or adding products to the IRSCOP webpage or forum. However, the web-based resources on the IRSCOP webpage remain open to anyone with an interest in improving rehabilitation services. You can access those resources from here.

A final report from NHS Clinical Soft Intelligence Service, 'Improving Rehabilitation Service Community of Practice: Networking for sustainable improvement in rehabilitation has been published. It describes what has been learned, achieved and produced by the IRSCOP that can be taken forward or built upon. You can access the report from here.

MS and Employment

The result from a recent study with over 100 people with MS, carried in Norway lead the authors to conclude that "Avoidant coping style, female gender, and longer disease duration were associated with shorter time to unemployment". Mental Fitness and Long-Term Conditions, 22nd Sept, London (a few places still available)
'Mental Fitness' has been defined as "the modifiable capacity to utilise resources and skills to flexibly adapt to challenges or advantages, enabling thriving". The purpose of this new half day workshop is to offer healthcare professionals the opportunity to learn more about how they can help people to cope with self-managing the long term condition they are living with. Developments in the Management of Hemiplegia, Thursday 22nd September 2016, Birmingham
This conference will be of interest to anyone in the clinical profession who treats children or adults affected by hemiplegia, and including physiotherapists, support workers, occupational therapists and Educational Specialists.
