This summer has been great, filled with trips and adventures. I plan on sharing more about it in another email soon, but I wanted to take this opportunity to share what this summer has been about for me; movements of the Gospel.

I love helping leaders discover and respond to what breaks God’s heart, so that Christ is formed in them, the “least of these” are loved, and new movements of Jesus disciples are formed.

So what is a "movement"?

A movement is a sociological phenomenon, which in its most basic form, is a group of people working together to passionately advance their shared commitments.”

-CRM Empowering Leaders

CRM goes on to say that more specifically, the movements to which we are committed happen when the good news of Jesus spreads contagiously through a network of social relationships whereby many people become committed followers of Jesus and groups of disciples rapidly multiply. Such movements have the potential to radically impact whole towns, cities, and nations.

A careful historical analysis of Gospel movements over the years - regardless of culture, place or era - are shown to always have had FIVE ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS, all of which were necessary for a movement to reach it's full potential:
PRAYER
EVANGELISM/DISCIPLESHIP
LEADER DEVELOPMENT
CHURCH FORMING
CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to take a few opportunities to share with you thoughts on each of these FIVE ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS. And I’d love for you to dream with me…

How might God be inviting you to participate in Gospel movements?
