Dear Parents
Term really seems to be getting underway now. It was lovely to see so many parents at the Meet the Teacher evenings this week. If you were unable to attend and would like to see your child's class teacher please contact the school office to arrange a suitable time.
We have all enjoyed a great week of Roald Dahl activities and many year groups have also been out on exciting trips. The creative Gateway staff were invited to design their own Dream Jars. A total of 34 staff completed a jar and the children had a fascinating time trying to work out the clues to identify the member of staff involved. Many interesting dreams and facts were discovered.

EYU make 'delumptious' sundaes |
We have gone BFG crazy in EYU this week.
The children used picture cards to help them sequence and then retell the story using there own words. They made their own giant ears and went on a listening walk around the school. The children heard birds, aeroplanes a motorbike and even a police car siren.

Reception enjoy 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' |
The children thoroughly enjoyed Roald Dahl day on Tuesday, focussing on the story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, as many children have heard both the story or seen the original film. We all had great fun tasting white, milk and dark chocolate in our Maths lesson and with the use of a tally chart and a bar graph the children were able to find out the most and least favourite flavour. |

Year 1 have fun at the discovery centre |
What a busy week we have had in Year one. We celebrated Roald Dahl day on Monday; the children enjoyed acting as if they were Mr Twit, making hairy beards covered in stinky cheese, smelly sardines and bits of dirt. |

We have had a magical wizardry week! On Tuesday, school had its Roald Dahl 100th birthday celebrations and Year 2 were George for the day! They considered all the gruesome ingredients George found to make his marvellous medicine for Grandma, and they were let loose on their own ingredients (supplied by their teachers) and ideas! |

Gateway School celebrates Roald Dahl Day |
On Tuesday, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Roald Dahl with an exciting dream jar hunt. All of the staff had a jar which they filled with clues about a dream of theirs. These were located around the school for children to find, examine the contents and guess who ‘the dreamer’ might be! It was lovely to listen in on their discussions and reasoning as the sorted through the objects. Who would put miso soup in a jar and why? The jar which contained only a few drops of water caused great intrigue amongst children and staff alike. Any ideas?
