INN NEWS AND NOTES

Last Call for Participation

We're putting the finishing touches on a very exciting event in Chicago this week. It's a two day event, Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 28-29) focused on helping managers at news organizations more effectively manage technology and product development.

We have a fantastic list of speakers/mentors, including keynotes from Rebekah Monson of Whereby.Us and Andrew Ramsammy of UnitedPublic Strategies. There are just a few seats still available and the event is FREE for INN members (and a reasonable fee for non-members).

You can learn more and register for the event right here.

After the Sunlight Foundation's surprise announcement last week, INN Senior Director of Product and Technology Adam Schweigert asked, "Who Funds Infrastructure for Journalism and Civic Tech?"

This fall INN members are organizing all sorts of events. Here's a preview of several to attend or be inspired by!

2016 Vermont Gubernatorial Debate — Moderated by VTDigger, the Republican and Democratic candidates will share their views in response to reader questions. (VT Digger; 9/28)

FERN Talks & Eats: Silicon Valley — Entrepreneurs and investors will come together to consider how sustainability can become more than a just a buzzword for the “new food” and ag tech businesses of tomorrow. (Food and Environment Reporting Network; 10/6)

Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival — The festival will screen eight films at the National Portrait Gallery along with two days of panels, workshops and lightning talks for filmmakers and journalists. (100Reporters; 10/6-8)

Special Note: An INN seed grant helped launch the festival last year and we're so happy to see it growing! As Community Partners, all INN members are entitled to a 10% discount on the film festival individual tickets or all-access passes.

NJ Spotlight on Cities — Innovators and influencers will come together at the second annual NJ Spotlight On Cities, a special, day-long look at how New Jersey's urban centers are mobilizing for the future. (NJ Spotlight; 10/14)
