October 9, Harvest Sunday
From 1 - 4 p.m. the New London Historical Village will be busting with activities—children games, crafts and  demonstrations—something for all ages. Join us in the Scytheville house for spinning and other harvest activities including hearthside cooking, butter churning, and cider making.
Children will have an opportunity to barter at the general store while the adults shop the homemade baked goods and preserves.

Plan to participate in games and crafts for children, take a turn contra dancing with Ms. Densmore in the Phillips barn, and watch a milking demonstration. Calling all bakers and canners!
On Harvest Sunday we plan to stock the Country Store with lots of goodies to sell. Quick breads, bars, cookies, pies, and other baked goods are wanted.  Homemade pickles, jams and jellies should be properly sealed. Please call or email Debbie Hall to tell her what you plan to bring: 526-6292 or dbrhjhll.com. As always—many hands make light work! And from our usual number of volunteers, we should be able to put on a mouth-watering display! Thank you!

Electric Vehicle Expo a Big Hit
On Sunday, September 11 from noon to 4 p.m., the New London Electric Vehicle Expo drew crowds of people to the New London Historical Village and brought together vehicle owners, dealers, and people curious to kick the tires on all-electric vehicles.
 New London Historical Society was delighted to be the host site and is thankful to the Expo coordinators for generously naming them as beneficiary of the sponsorship funds.

REFLECTIONS 2016 - Saturday, September 17
On Saturday, September 17, we celebrated the opening of the newly renovated Lauridsen House and Maude Swift Gallery, which contains an inaugural art exhibit of Dr. Anna Littlefield's art work. (right)

 At left, Pete Lauridsen thanks all who supported the building renovations at the Reflections event and tells the story of the Lauridsen House and its legacy from when he was a small boy.

Meet our Colby-Sawyer Interns
Daniel Sawyer - A history and political science major, Daniel is a senior at Colby-Sawyer College. Originally from Highland, Illinois, he moved to New Hampshire about seven years ago and is anxious to learn more about his newly adopted state.
Boris Alibali is a senior at Colby-Sawyer College studying history and political studies. Born and brought up in Germany, at the age of eight he moved to Albania. His first visit to the U.S. was through a state department scholarship as an exchange student at the age of 17 when he spent a year in Swanzey, NH, with an American host family.
Both students will spend the fall semester working on special projects and Historical Society events.
