“Hearts & Treasures” Adult Faith Milestone

Beginning Sunday, September 25

Our next Adult Faith Milestone begins Sept 25 and continues for five Sundays at 9:30AM.  We are blessed to have Mr. Micah Velilla leading this special series on “More than Money Matters” – which invites us to explore our relationship with God and how it guides our life-responses as disciples in daily decisions.  It is a wonderful opportunity for adults at all stages of life (incl. HS students).

Membership Sunday

This Sunday

Please plan to be here this Sunday as we welcome our newest members to Christ's family of faith here at Living Springs. They will be received at both services.
Find support for life’s journey and be part of the exciting work God is doing among this community of disciples!  If interested – or if you want to learn more about Living Springs – please contact Pastor (803-917-2749) or Tina Molineu tpmolineu@gmail.com.

Fall Cottage Gatherings for Everyone!

Our Cottage Gatherings over the past few years have been wonderful experiences, and we are excited to assemble our updated In-Touch groups this fall.

These gatherings provide opportunity for our LS family of faith to catch up with each other regarding our Spirt-Tugs and God-Stories, as well as offer focus on our G.I.F.T. (Growing in Faith Together) Discipleship emphasis.  At this year’s fall gatherings, everyone will receive a copy of their 2017 G.I.F.T. Discipleship Commitment Card, plus an updated version of the LS Time & Talent sheet.  Our commitments will be offered and celebrated on Sunday, Nov. 13 at our big G.I.F.T. Commitment Sunday, which will include the annual Congregational Ministry Meeting brunch, between services. Invitations are being sent out by each group. If you cannot attend your group’s gathering, please find another date on the list and rsvp to the appropriate leader.

Lessons for Sunday, September 25

First Reading: Amos 6:1a, 4-7

The prophet Amos announces that Israel’s great wealth is a cause not for rejoicing but rather sorrow, because God’s people have forgotten how to share their wealth with the poor. The wealthy will be the first to go into exile when judgment comes.

Psalm 146

The Lord gives justice to those who are oppressed. (Ps. 146:7)

Second Reading: 1 Timothy 6:6-19

Timothy is reminded of the confession he made at his baptism and of its implications for daily life. His priorities will be different from those of people who merely want to be rich.

Gospel: Luke 16:19-31

Jesus tells a parable in which the poor one is “lifted up” and the rich one is “sent away empty.” Jesus makes it clear that this ethic of merciful reversal is not new but is as old as Moses and the prophets.

Church Humor...

Do you have some church humor you'd like to share? We would love to share it too! Send your humor to Lisa in the office.
A man is talking to God.
The man asks, "God, how long is a million years?" God answers, "To me, it's about a minute." "God, how much is a million dollars?" "To me, it's a penny." "God, may I have a penny?" And, God said, "Wait a minute."
