eMORE – Monitoring and reporting online hate speech in Europe

CEJI is pleased to announce the recent partnership with the EU-funded project eMORE aiming to gain a greater understanding of the phenomena of hate speech online. The eMORE project is coordinated by the Research Centre on Security and Crimes (RISSC) in Italy in partnership with 11 NGOs across Europe. eMORE is conducting a study in 7 countries: UK, Italy, Greece, Germany, Slovenia, Romania and Belgium. Do you live in one of these countries and have you been subject to, or have you witnessed, episodes of hate crime, hate speech or other forms of prejudice? Do you think that expressions of hate are increasing and pervading our communities? If the answer is yes, please complete this survey, choosing the country where you currently live.

European Peer Training Organisation (EPTO) receives grant for Brussels migration histories project

CEJI – A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe's sister organisation EPTO, in partnership with AIM, has received a grant to organise a project which aims to train and mobilise young people from Brussels to facilitate exchanges with other young people on issues such as identity, living together and diversity. Via a process of action-training, these young people (from all communities in Brussels) will be made aware of the role they play in the civic building of the city for today and tomorrow.

CEJI Hate Crime Monitoring & Recording Project Awarded EU Funding

CEJI – A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe is delighted to announce that it has been awarded significant funding, from the European Commission DG Justice, to support the new project: “Facing all the Facts”. Built on the success of the European project “Facing Facts! – make hate crime visible”, this new phase aims to build the capacities of law enforcement and public authorities to take a victim-centred approach to monitoring and recording hate crime and hate speech through online training. The two-year grant will also support research to identify gaps and opportunities to improve co-operation and data sharing between criminal justice systems and civil society organisations. The research will inform EU policy. Find out more about the Facing Facts! project

Generate - youth programme: free activity download

Download a free sample from 'Generate' – the new CEJI 'train-the-trainer' programme for a Jewish life based on everyone’s contribution. Generate originally emerged out of a partnership between CEJI and EUJS responding to the needs expressed by Jewish communities throughout Europe: a lack of interest and involvement of young Jews in community life. The project aims to transform community members from passive “consumers” into active contributors.  The vision of Generate is a Jewish life built on everyone’s contribution, where people of any age are enabled to take initiative and shape their Jewish context.

Final Publication Launched: Insights & Trends in Antisemitic Online Hate Speech

From September 2015 to July 2016, Get the Trolls Out! countered antisemitic speech in Europe through creative education, inclusive journalism, satire, and fact-based messages. How did we do it? Our media monitoring has been the basis of response actions taken by all of the wonderful partners in this project, such as cartoons, complaints, articles, videos, radio shows and theatre performances. We debunked false myths, ridiculed antisemites, exposed their lies, and showed the harm of hate speech. In this final publication, we have gathered the insights and trends in antisemitic online hate speech that we encountered – and our reactions. Download 'Get the Trolls Out! Insights & Trends in Antisemitic Online Hate Speech'
