I remember going to the 100 Club in the late 70s, eating Chinese food and listening to some great trad Jazz - back then you could cut the air with a knife, it was the archetype dark, smokey, basement jazz club.

Then in 1988 I got the opportunity to run a swing club night there and I couldn't believe my luck. The club has always had a family feel to it and partly due to its history and the vast numbers of great musicians & dancers who have passed through its doors, it has what can only be described as the 'vibe' - like Jazz music you don't necessarily see it but its something deep down inside you just feel.
Countless couples met their other half whilst out for a night of dancing at the club and it still remains a popular destination for oversees music & jazz dance lovers as part of London's rich musical heritage. It will be a club that will be talked about long after its demise. When the club was due to close some years ago for financial reasons we stopped running our regular Stompin' nights of over twenty years but now we are going back for one night to celebrate 30 years of the London Swing Dance Society.
