In celebrating the life and times of the late Stephen Bantu Biko, the father of the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM); the Durban University of Technology, together with the Umtapo Centre as well as the Steve Biko Foundation, will host the Steve Biko National Seminar 2016 themed Conversations on Black Consciousness.
The Tobeka Madiba Zuma Foundation, founded by Thobeka Madiba-Zuma, First Lady of South Africa, recently hosted a Spring High Tea at the Mahlamba Ndlopfu Official Residence for the President of the Republic of South Africa, Pretoria, where Siboniso Dlamini, fourth-year Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics student at DUT was also in attendance.
The DUT Directorate for Research and Postgraduate Support recently hosted a Public Lecture by Professor Ntongela Masilela where he delved into the political intellectual culture of South African intellectuals of the 1940s.
The Public Lecture was held at the DUT Hotel School, Ritson Campus.
This week, DUT hosted an annual luncheon to celebrate the awarding of the 27th Sharon Wilson Award for the Top Annual English and Communication Student, in which Noorain Manjoo, a second-year DUT Human Resource Management student, was announced as the winner for 2016.
She beat more than 5000 students for the prize and was awarded a cash prize of R2 600 by award sponsor, Clive Wilson.
