CELEBRATE ST. PETERS 2016

The weather washed out Friday night, and then all that rain made parking a challenge. But, we were happy to see thousands of you come out to 370 Lakeside Park on Saturday, Sept. 17, for a wonderful day at Celebrate St. Peters 2016!

This was the first time that Celebrate St. Peters organizers have had to cancel a full day of activities in the festival’s six years. And, with all the rain making the park’s grassy area so muddy, we lost more than half of our parking area inside 370 Lakeside Park during a sunny day on Saturday. That forced us to move a lot of our free parking outside the park, including onto a section of Premier Parkway. As a result, our free shuttles were in more demand than ever, and we thank you for your patience while trying to get into the festival. We hope everyone feels that the wait was worth it! We saw lots of smiles at the carnival, in the vendor area, along the lake, during fireworks, and at all three stages during free entertainment that concluded with a great rock show by Randy Bachman!

One more note: A lot of you asked whether we would reschedule shows by Firefall and Orleans, which were cancelled on Friday night. Unfortunately, these bands’ tour schedules made rescheduling impossible.

PUMPKIN RECYCLING

Pumpkins and other common fall decorations, such as corn stalks and bales of straw, can easily be recycled by simply placing these items in your yard waste cart on a regularly scheduled yard-waste collection day. Or, you can drop these items off at Earth Centre during normal operating hours.

Did you know that when you take a few moments to throw your recyclable items into Blue Bags instead of directly into the trash, you are actually paying yourself? That’s right. Because when you throw items in the trash, the City has to pay fees to the landfill for disposal; yet when you recycle, those items are sold to companies that will turn your waste into reusable products. Since all of the costs and savings are passed onto you, it only makes sense to recycle as much as you can. Learn how to keep your trash rates the lowest in St. Charles County just by recycling with Blue Bags.
