CROSS OF CHRIST FELLOWSHIP
SEPTEMBER 2016 NEWSLETTER

“As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight” (Ps 16:3).

It is delightful to share our lives with other believers. They help us bear our burdens, pray for us, comfort us, correct us, and remind us of the truths of gospel. Praise God for the joy of sharing life together with other Christians! We pray that more in Naperville might come to experience a restored relationship with God through Christ and come into the family of God.

(We meet Sundays at the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville)

Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter and for supporting Cross of Christ Fellowship! Below you will read about some of the highlights of this month and things to be praying about (Last Fling Outreach, North Central College, Meetup, Continued Needs).

Last Fling Festival Outreach

We had a wonderful and fruitful time hosting a booth at the Last Fling Festival in downtown Naperville. Over 4 days we had dozens of conversations with unbelievers where we sowed seeds and shared the gospel.

We used a board with a different question on it each day to engage people as they walked by, and we were amazed at how much interest we had as people stopped by to put their answer on the board or to just look at everyone's answers. One day we had so many responses that we had 3 layers of post-it notes covering the board!

We also were able to give away about 200 copies of the gospel of John and invite many to our Sunday services.

Please pray for all the seeds that were sown and for all the many who took home a copy of the Gospel of John.

North Central College Outreach

The students at North Central College, a private college in downtown Naperville, have returned! As a church, we long to equip students to live for Christ and share him with others. (Here's a page with more info about our ministry to North Central).

Our church meets within walking distance of campus, and we hope that students can find a gospel-centered church home with us while they are here in Naperville.

This Sunday we are hosting a booth at a ‘Church Meet & Greet’ on campus. Please pray for open doors to connect with students and invite them to church and to include them into the life of our congregation.

Meetup Ministry

Our meetup ministry continues to go well. We now have Andrew regularly leading in addition to Tom. And we have a good number of non-Christians from the community (some who say they really don’t know what they believe) attending to discuss various topics. This Saturday we are talking about ‘Forgiveness and Grace’ and we have a good number of people RSVP’d.  Some individuals from meetup have visited us on a Sunday a morning. Our hope is to serve the community through offering this safe place where people can come and discuss these deeper topics in life and that we as Christians might be able to share what God’s Word has to say on these various topics (to be the 'salt' and 'light').

Continued Needs: Prayer, Laborers, Financial Support

Our needs continue to be the same: prayer, more laborers, and continued financial support.

1. We covet your prayers as we do the work of ministry here—pray for our lives to reflect the reality of the gospel we profess to believe, pray for unbelievers who are hearing the gospel, pray for wisdom and love in it all.

2. We continue to pray for more believers to join our congregation and be on mission with us in Naperville (Luke 10:2). As of right now we are stretched with everyone serving in many ways. One of our biggest needs is in nursery and children’s ministry, as on a recent Sunday we had almost as many kids as adults! (Also: PRAISE GOD that one of the families in our church had a baby this month: [Abigail was born to the Gregor family!). We have such a wonderful, strong, committed, servant-hearted core team help every week, but we would of course love addition members to help carry the load and be on mission with us.

3. We have our continued need of outside financial support. It takes years for a church to become self-sustaining, and we greatly appreciate your help in this way (if you want to give you can do so here)

FAST & PRAY WITH US ON 9/28

Once a month we fast and pray together as a church. We'd love you to join us in fasting this month! As a group, we'll be fasting together on Wednesday 9/28. As we fast, we'll be praying that the gospel bears fruit and advances (Col 1:5-6) in Naperville through transformed hearts, lives, and communities; we'll be praying for all the seeds sown at Last Fling, for more laborers, and for wisdom and love in all that we do--that Christ might be glorified!

THANK YOU for taking the time for read through our newsletter and for praying for us. Feel free to pass this onto others who may be interested. And thank you to all who are giving financially!
