Marty's Message

Guest writer Cathy Scheder

The College of Professional Studies is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion throughout the college and the UW-Stevens Point campus. We recognize the global world in which we live and the students, faculty and staff who make up the CPS and Pointer family.

Dean Marty Loy has assigned a Diversity Task Force to help promote and celebrate our diversity and the uniqueness each one of us brings to our campus. The role of the task force is to guide our efforts in celebrating who we are as a college. The task force includes Ruixue Du, Lt. Col. Rochell Maier, Nisha Fernando, Celine Kline, Beth Kinslow, Maysee Yang Herr, Maggie Watson and myself.

We will be planning several events to promote and celebrate our uniqueness in culture, gender, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, disability status and more. Swing first floor near the Academic and Career Advising Center (CPW 128) to read the college's commitment to diversity and inclusion. The task group is already working on addressing signage in the building in multiple languages, displaying student work from our classes, and a possible CPS Dean's lecture series.

We are always looking for new ideas to help celebrate who we are. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please reach out to any one of the task force members or myself. Today and tomorrow as a student, faculty, staff member, alumni or friend of CPS, We Are Point.

Cathy Scheder, Chair
CPS Diversity Task Force
