Upcoming Events and Reminders
Run-a-Thon is Friday, 10/7 - Come out for this fun annual event and help students keep track of their laps. As Crow Island's largest fundraiser of the year, the run-a-thon is a school tradition that promotes school spirit, physical fitness, and having fun. It's a great way to spend time with your kids and we still are in need of volunteers. If you haven't already done so, please consider donating today.
 
Walk-To-School-Week - Tuesday,10/4 - Friday, 10/7
During Walk to School Week, students are encouraged to walk or bike to school each day (biking for 3rd and 4th graders only). Each day, the children will have the chance to mark their journey on the big neighborhood map at the front of the school, as well as receive a small prize for walking.
This is an excellent opportunity to teach your children the importance of physical activity as well as concern for the environment. Someone wise once said that "You must walk before you run", and Crow Island will put in that practice by holding the Run-a-thon on Friday 10/7. Please, walk your child/children to school then stay and help out at Crow Island's largest fundraiser of the year!

Save the Date - Friday, February 24th - Crow Island Parent Party
You won't want to miss this fun night. Details are in the works and you'll receive those soon.
Teacher & Staff Gift Fund - This is our annual fund to support the amazing teachers and staff at Crow island. Your donations allow Room Parents to provide a generous holiday gift for your child's teacher and classroom associates, as well as personalized end-of-year gifts from the class. The fund provides gifts for associates who float between multiple classrooms as well as specials teachers, pupil services teachers and administrative staff who work with our children every day. Suggested contribution is $45 per student. Please consider contributing today. Thank you.
The Crow Island Staff Appreciation Committee Needs Your Help
The committee will be organizing lunches and snacks for our wonderful Crow Island teachers and staff throughout the year. They are looking for donations of food and or beverage items. Don’t miss one of the most popular parties on the North Shore! A beautifully catered event amid fabulous antiques, jewelry, and art. The Preview Party is Thursday night, November 3, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the Winnetka Community House. Buy a ticket to the Antiques + Modernism show Preview Party through the Crow Island PTO before Tuesday November 1st and a portion of your ticket will be donated to the Crow Island PTO.
Save Your Receipts!
Please remember to save your receipts each time you shop at the Grand. Then, every month or so please drop your collected receipts in the designated box on Mrs. Badger’s desk.
Chess Wizards
Chess Wizards introduces students to the world of chess. Classes are held once a week after school at Crow Island for students in grades 1-4; registration is now open for the session beginning on Thursday, October 6.
