National Threatened Species Day
On Wednesday 7th September, NPAQ joined other wildlife and conservation groups to mark National Threatened Species Day.
NPAQ would like to say thank you to Minister Miles and all of the lovely folk who came along to show their support on Threatened Species Day!
We had a great day and hope you did too.

Nature is being renamed ‘natural capital’ – but is it really the planet that will profit?
The four-yearly World Conservation Congress of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature has just taken place in Hawai’i. The congress is the largest global meeting on nature’s conservation. This year a controversial motion was debated regarding incorporating the language and mechanisms of “natural capital” into IUCN policy.

Notice of NPAQ Annual General Meeting and Annual Awards Presentation

Date:  Wednesday 21st September 2016
Time:  7:30pm
Location:  Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Auditorium
 
The AGM will commence at 7.30pm. This will be followed by the Annual Awards evening including a presentation on the history of NPAQ, the Romeo Lahey Awards, and the dedication of the Ruth Read Historical Collection. Refreshments and a light supper will be provided. Read more

Phone calls requesting donations for protecting national parks

We are aware that members of the public have been receiving phone calls requesting donations towards protecting national parks. We believe this to be an initiative of the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.  

We are not currently fundraising by telephone at National Parks Association Queensland.

This BioBlitz offers opportunities and a fun way to explore and learn more about such a special place and the many fascinating species that inhabit it.  The BioBlitz will be a comprehensive stocktake of the living natural resources of this a very representative part Fraser Island (K’Gari).
