Summer Picnic recap ...

Tim and Tammy Shields graciously hosted our Summer Picnic this year at their restored farm in Freedom Township. We shared a fabulous potluck meal in their beautiful restored barn, enjoyed tours of their restored farmhouse, thanked Adam Boyer for his excellent work as our Land Conservation Coordinator last year, received an exciting orientation to this year's Road Rally thanks to Rally Master Jeff Glahn, and in general spent a lovely summer afternoon visiting with friends! Special thanks to our Events Committee for organizing an exceptional picnic, and to Tim and Tammy Shields for generously sharing their farm with us!

How many hours of training are volunteer fire fighters required to undergo?

This year's Road Rally theme, Emergency Services of Adams County, pays homage to the county's heroic first responders. Ever wonder just how much training our dedicated volunteer fire fighters are required to undergo? The answer may surprise you!

Upcoming volunteer opportunities...

  • November 15: Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree, 4-6:30 p.m., Gettysburg Area Middle School. We need a team of friendly people to take shifts staffing our information table and answering questions from visitors considering us for their donation!
Interested in helping out? Drop us a lineAll it takes is a little time and friendliness! Sharing the Land Conservancy and our mission is crucial to our future, and we're grateful to anyone who can spare a little time to help spread the word!

Magnify your gift at the ACCF Giving Spree...

It's time for the Adams County Community Foundation's annual Giving Spree at the Gettysburg Area Middle School. This inspiring event gathers Adams County's many nonprofit organizations together in one room for you to visit and talk with representatives about their missions. It provides a perfect opportunity to make a year-end gift that's matched by donations made by event sponsors, so that your gift is bigger when you give at the Spree. We hope you'll visit our table at the Spree and consider making a gift to the Land Conservancy! We receive additional matching funds from the Adams County Community Foundation when you make your gift at the Giving Spree.

We say it all the time: The Land Conservancy is a nonprofit, member-supported land trust … And when we say "member-supported," we mean it! The support we receive from our members is absolutely crucial not only to our mission of preserving the rural lands and heritage of Adams County—but also to our survival as an organization. Membership dues pay our bills (like phone, supplies, salaries, and benefits) and cover the costs associated with land preservation that aren’t reimbursed by our outside funding sources (and those can be considerable!).

Membership starts at just $35 for individuals and includes our quarterly newsletter, an invitation to all of our events, including our annual membership dinner, and the joy of knowing that you’re contributing to preserving the beautiful and valuable rural lands of Adams County. Won’t you join—or renew your membership—today? Just click or email!

Not sure whether your membership is current? Just drop us a line and we'll let you know!
