Join us for worship!

A missional mindset, is an approach, an understanding that we must intentionally and with dedicated effort seek out, invite and bring others into a relationship with Christ Jesus. One of the ways we're doing such at St. Peter's is with our Powerful Praise worship experience. Please share this opportunity for a radically different worship experience. Pray for it to be fruitful and financially donate to it that it may better reach out. Our next service will be on Saturday, September 10th at 5P.  Join us for powerful song and scripture. Powerful Praise will be on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

Operation School Bell

Do you knit or crochet? Is it something you use to do, but have not done for a while? Or would you like to learn how? If so, mark your calendar for Saturday, September 24th, 10 am to 3 pm, and come hear about Operation School Bell!

Jan Cullor (Sue’s sister) will give a presentation about this philanthropic program that provides thousands of qualified students with new school clothes. Volunteers help each child select three new outfits, a winter jacket, toiletry kit, and one week’s supply of underwear and socks. They also select a handmade scarf and hat. That’s where we come in. There will be supplies provided for knitting or crocheting scarves and folks to help if you’re interested in learning. (There will also be fleece to be cut into scarves if you feel that you are “yarn challenged.”) A light lunch will be provided.

Come enjoy a time of fellowship while contributing to a worthwhile cause.

The Sophia Way Luncheon

St. Peter’s has been a strong supporter of The Sophia Way since the beginning and we will have a table for 8 at the annual luncheon October 13th at the Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue, 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The Keynote Speaker will be Sara Rankin from the Seattle University School of Law. She is founder and director of the Homeless Rights Advocacy Program (HRAP) and will speak to the theme, “Creating Spaces”.

The luncheon is free although a donation is expected. To sign up, please go to: www.sophiaway.org and click on the “Save the Date” picture.

Yard Sale Does Lots of Good

Although we are committed to sending $1,400 per year to the General Board of Global Ministries, our Yard Sales generate more funds than that so it has been decided that this year we will send $100 to the program at Seattle First UMC providing breakfasts to the homeless. We are also sending $200 to the new Methodist campaign, “Abundant Health” (John 10:10: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”) see separate article on Abundant Health. An additional $1,750 is being transferred to the Trustees for their use in improving carpeting/sound system in the sanctuary.

Card Ministry

The United Methodist Women will meet the 4th Sunday of each month to write cards to church family and friends. Please join us for this inspirational and supportive project. Any questions please contact
Debbie Miller.

Anna's Concert- Illuzionz Jazz Ensemble

This year our annual Anna's Concert will feature the Illuzionz Jazz Ensemble on October 9th at 3:00 pm. The Illuzionz Jazz Ensemble is a 6-piece group that  has been playing in the Greater Seattle area for more than 10 years. They recently played at the San Gennaro Italian Festival in Seattle. Other recent venues include Grazie's  Ristorante, Crossroads Shopping Center, 909 Bistro, Mathews Winery, and several private and corporate functions.

Their repertoire includes songs from the swing era as well as music from the 60s and 70s. For Anna's Concert, the group will focus on music from the 30s to the 50s. For questions about the concert, please call the church office.

Christmas Play

We are fortunate to have the Taproot Theatre Touring Company visiting us again this Advent season. They will be performing a play titled "Hark the Harold". The play is about an angel named Harold who is paired with Gabriel to make the announcement about the birth of Christ. The last play Taproot did at our church,  "The Inkeeper's Christmas" was very well received with the Christmas message presented in a humorous way. Tickets will be on sale starting on Sunday, November 6th for $10 each.

St. Peter's Wish List

Have you noticed the new tables and chairs in the Fellowship Hall?  These were placed on the St. Peter's wish list by the UMW. A chance for getting them on sale before we had all the money raised came up so we acted on faith and purchased them.  If you have had occasion to either put them up or take them down you already know how much easier they are to handle than the old ones. We are still short of covering the purchase price. So we are hoping that some people will be able to give a special gift towards this purchase.  If you wish to contribute you can put a check in the offering and designate it for the wish list. Thanks.

A Short Greeting from Bishop Elaine Stanovsky

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ,
I’m Elaine Stanovsky and I’m the brand new bishop in the Greater Northwest Area of The United Methodist Church, having just moved here from Denver, Colorado where I served for eight years. I can’t tell you how excited my husband Clint and I are to be in the Northwest, we came from the Northwest, we served all of our professional lives in the Northwest and its great to be back in the Pacific Northwest Conference, the Oregon-Idaho Conference, and the Alaska Conference.

I believe to the core of my being that God is still at work in the world through the Church. And that the job of those of us who believe in Jesus Christ and who know the power of Christ’s life-giving work; our job is to figure out where God is at work, and how God is at work in the world, and to go join God in that work! I hope that all of you and all of your places are looking for that kind of new reengagement with your neighborhoods.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to get to meet you as I begin to travel the Area, learn about the ministries you are involved in, and encourage you along the way. But for now I’m going to say:

God bless you, God keep you, and may God bring us together on the road.

Bishop Elaine J.W. Stanovsky
