Meet Haneefah Khaaliq
Haneefah Khaaliq is HDGHA's Families of Hope nominee. She has been a resident of HDGHA since 2012 and is an active member in our Family Self-Sufficiency Program.
A single mother of two, Haneefah worked multiple retail jobs for many years until she she finally decided to pursue her dream of becoming a medical assistant and began taking classes. The demands of school meant she had to reduce her work hours...which of course meant less income. Read more about Haneefah in this recent Baltimore Sun article.
HDGHA helped Haneefah acheive the first part of her goal by providing a safe, affordable home for her family. Since rent at HDGHA is based on what is earned, as a resident Haneefah had some of her financial stresses temporarily eased so she could finish her training. She now works at an Abingdon medical practice. However, Haneefah wants to continue her education to increase her salary in order to purchase her first home. She is working to raise funds for a laptop to achieve that goal.
You can help Haneefah reach her goal by purchasing an ad in the Families of Hope 2017 Keepsake Calendar, reserving one of the calendars now or through a cash donation. The Families of Hope calendar features original works of art created by the participants and is available for just $15. Ad sponsorships are available at a variety of price points.
