Sophomore Success Challenge
Applications Due by Midnight TONIGHT!
Attention second-year students! The Honors College is launching the Sophomore Success Challenge (SSC) for the 2016-2017 academic year. The goal of SSC is to encourage HC students to get involved with the broader campus community. Students who successfully complete the challenge will be eligible to win $500 towards the project of their choice! Learn more.

Sophomore Workshop: Optimize Your Strengths for Leadership

Workshop Tuesday, September 20, 7:00-8:00pm | HC Hartstein Seminar Room, E128
Sophomores have the opportunity to take the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment in advance of this workshop, receiving a detailed report that provides insight about natural talents and areas of strength. During the workshop, students will have the opportunity to learn how to use their strengths in personal, academic, and professional situations. Students meet in small groups to develop action plans and understand their talents in relation to fellow group members and leadership opportunities.

Graduate Mentor Fellows

Are you hoping to connect with someone who can guide you through your professional and academic interests? The Mentoring Pod program links you with doctoral Graduate Mentor Fellows in a variety of academic and career fields. Four undergraduates of varying class years meet with their Mentor Fellow throughout the year either in-person or virtually, beginning and ending the year with receptions hosted at the Honors College. BioBlitz in Sandy Hook, NJ

Join Faculty Fellow Dr. JeanMarie Hartman at the 2016 BioBlitz in Sandy Hook, NJ! If you care about biodiversity, join us in documenting the plants, animals, and microbes that inhabit the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area in Highlands, NJ. You will team up with experienced scientists who will lead you on expeditions to characterize the species that make up the Sandy Hook Ecosystem–no prior identification experience needed. Sign up for the event. You will receive HC Serves credit for your participation.

Come hear students in crucial leadership positions from various Rutgers-wide organizations speak about getting involved in your first year. This event is a great way to learn more about how to get involved around campus. Speakers will include RUSA President Justin Schulberg, RUSA Vice President Evan Covello, and representatives from the Interfraternity Council, Cap and Skull Senior Honors Society, and more! This event is sponsored by the Student Advisory Board.

Women have some unique challenges that males and females alike should be aware of, from an academic and leadership perspective to personal experiences. Our panel of distinguished professionals will be led by Dr. Colleen Georges, a professor of Women’s Leadership at Douglass College and the Graduate School of Education. Managers, both male and female, will join us from Johnson & Johnson, Rutgers' Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, and AT&T. Come learn how you can positively impact and navigate your own leadership experience as well as that of others! › Service Storytelling: Reflection Workshop–Friday, September 23, 2:00pm | HC Hartstein Seminar Room, E128. Have you completed service with a Rutgers student organization, fraternity or sorority, or another organization outside of Rutgers that you would like to count toward your HC Serves hours? Attend a reflection workshop to delve into your experience through fun and thought provoking activities.

› Craft Nights with HC Faculty Fellow Dr. JeanMarie Hartman–Tuesdays, 8:00pm | HC East Lounge. Join Dr. Hartman for a fun night of knitting and crocheting blankets, which will be donated to Elijah's Promise, a New Brunswick-based nonprofit. Students can receive two HC Serves hours for this event, but must attend a Service Storytelling: Reflection Workshop.
