FREE Training!
We're excited to be able to give our members access to an incredible training opportunity! The Infant Mental Health Promotion (IMPH) team at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto is offering a 15-part training in infant mental health. Normally, this training is $1,600 for members of IMPH, and $2,000 for non-members. This training is FREE for agencies funded by CAPC or CPNP!
IMHP has also generously agreed to let our non-CAPC and CPNP members have access to it at a huge discount: we are making this training available to FRP-BC members for $160.
The fee gets you access to the training for unlimited staff at your agency. Please contact Barb at admin@frpbc.ca if you are interested in registering. We only have a limited number of spots for our members, so act quickly!
The training is online, so it is great for agencies in rural or isolated areas. Find more information about the training here.

UVic Early Years Study
We would like to tell you about a research study taking place in child care facilities in BC. We wanted to provide you with some basic information about the study now so that you have time to think about whether you are interested in participating. In a few weeks you will receive more details about this study and at that time we will formally ask for your consent to participate.
The study is called the Early Years Capacity-Building Evaluation. The research study is being carried out by Dr. PJ Naylor, a University of Victoria researcher, in collaboration with Drs. Louise Masse, Guy Faulkner and Heather McKay, all researchers at the University of British Columbia, and Dr. Luke Wolfenden, a researcher at the University of Newcastle. You may contact the co-principal investigators, Dr. Naylor (250-721-7844, pjnaylor@uvic.ca) or Dr. Masse (604-875-2000 x 5563, lmasse@cfri.ubc.ca) if you have any questions.
As a new Early Years physical activity and healthy eating capacity-building initiative for childcare (including best practice recommendations, tools and resources and professional development/training) is being rolled out this winter we are conducting a study to evaluate whether its implementation has an impact. We hope to administer our baseline survey starting in the last week of September. Should you agree to participate in the study, we will ask you to complete a 30 minute online survey about the child care environment in the ‘short program’ (3 hours or less) that you lead. Your participation is completely voluntary. The stakeholders are not conducting the study, relationships and employment will not be affected in any way whether you choose to participate or not, and the stakeholders will not be aware of who chooses to participate and who does not. If you do decide to participate, you may withdraw at any time without any consequences or any explanation.
We will send you more details about the study during the week of September 26th and at that time will formally ask for your consent to participate. Please contact Dr. Naylor or Dr. Masse if you have any questions or concerns about the study.
