The Somerset & Dorset Railway

A talk by Mike Beale from the S&D Trust

Monday September 26th 2016 at 7.30 in the Village Hall
To mark the 50th Anniversary of the closure of the Somerset and Dorset Railway the History Group has invited Mike Beale from the S&D Trust to give a talk. The talk will focus on the line as a whole but will also include a very local focus and flavour. There will be various displays to view both before and after the talk as well as memorabilia such as a Shoscombe and Single Hill Halt fridge magnet (every house should have one) to purchase.

Ticket price: £5 to include a glass of wine or juice.
Tickets available from:
Nick Glass 01761 439406
Roina Richards 01761 434357

or on the door, IF there are still some left!

HARVEST FESTIVAL
St. Julian's, Wellow

Our Harvest Festival service is at 11.15 am on Sunday 25th September.

The church will, of course,be decorated with flowers and fruit as usual.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

I am having a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Thursday 22nd September, 9 - 12.

After a wonderful extended summer of playing in the playground, the nights are starting to close in, and with it, I'm sure the weather will change.

With this in mind, I wonder if anyone has an old pot or two of Cuprinol type thing hanging around in their shed, that might be put to use protecting the gazebo in the playground?

Any donation gratefully received! Please could you let me know by email;

Many thanks, and long may the pleasant weather remain!

One of our kids has found a black DS gaming consul up at the playground. If the owner could contact me I will help get it back to them.

On October 9th I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London to raise money for the Guy's & St Thomas' hospital.

I've chosen this charity because last November, my sister and brother in law sadly lost their baby, Max. They were treated at Guy's & St Thomas as well as the Evelina Children's hospital.

Any donations would be kindly appreciated. My page is:

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Kind regards,

Emily Appleby Matthews

WELLOW LUNCH CLUB

As there is no Wellow Church and Parish News this month we thought we should remind everyone that the LUNCH CLUB is this Thursday 22nd September in Wellow Village Hall at 1pm.

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday after the Summer recess.

Many thanks,

Lee Bodman (837858)
