How we do what we do
 ClimateXChange was designed to build an effective, trusting relationship between policy teams and the research community. After some trial and error the model has developed considerably during our first five years in operation 2011-2016.
In a new report about how we work we outlines our learning and draw on sample projects to illustrate the key processes to successful knowledge exchange between research and policy.

Why do people join car clubs?
 Car clubs can be a good transport alternative both for people who own a car and people who don't. But the reasons they join differ and influence how joining a car club influences their transport behaviour.
Determining how the use of car clubs is replacing other modes of transport can help to assess whether car clubs are reducing private car use.

Electrification of heat
 What are the potential impacts of electrifying a proportion of heat demand in Scotland and what are the technologies available to do so?
This project created a model to represent the electrification of heat and electricity network capacity. It also assesses the potential uptake of a range of heating technologies in Scotland, and their technical and economic impacts and limitations.

Local energy systems in the UK: Taking stock and looking forward.
ECCI, 22 September
This interdisciplinary event provides a space for researchers, policymakers and practitioners to share knowledge about local energy, and to identify the key challenges and opportunities for the future. The event will address the following questions:
1) What is a ‘local energy system’ and how is this being enacted in practice across the UK?
2) What evidence is there that local energy systems can, and will, deliver the social, economic and environmental benefits expected?
3) What conditions and innovations (in governance, technology, financing mechanisms, institutional and social organisation) are required to realise the potential of local energy systems?

How to hold Climate Conversations
The Climate Change Public Conversation Series project aims to equip and enable the Scottish Government to have conversations about climate change with the Scottish public. The CXC managed project will publish a Climate Conversations ‘How to’ Guide, along with three accompanying reports on the research behind the Guide. The guidance and materials can be used by anyone wanting to discuss climate change in Scotland and beyond.
