Hi there,

welcome to the September edition of our Newsletter. As always there is lots to tell you about whats happening here at The Physios. The newsletter is a little chunkier this month, but we would like to draw your attention to two new services - Injection Lab and Shockwave Lab

Our
Injection Lab builds on Paul's many years of experience in this area and the remarkable results we have seen by combining Hyaluronan with hands-on treatment and exercise. Shockwave Lab is a new 'cutting edge' treatment which combines best evidence with the best equipment we can get our hands on to treat chronic conditions, such as, plantar fasciitis and tendon problems.

Have a great Autumn.

PILATES

Our Autumn Pilates programme is just about to start. We are pleased to offer classes on a Tuesday AM/PM and Thursday PM/evening. There are some limited spaces left in these classes so do get in touch ASAP if you would like a place.

HYALURONAN
Our principal physio, Paul Hattam, has been one of the leading clinicians in the area of injection therapy for many years. He has been using injection therapy for all manner of joint and soft tissue conditions here at The Physios as well as teaching its application internationally.

Recently, however, a new substance has received growing acclaim with increasing scientific support – hyaluronic acid. You may recognise the name – HA has become the new buzz word in many beauty products. The most notable HA success story was the wonder ‘synovial fluid replacement’ that Freddie Flintoff received in the England Cricket ashes win of 2009, enabling him to continue to play despite significant osteoarthritis in his knee. Today HA injections continue to be used in the elite sporting environment but are unfortunately not widely available on the NHS despite their modest price.

Here at The Physios we have experienced great results using HA in conjunction with ‘hands on’ treatment and exercise in many different joint conditions. But don't just take our word for it. Margaret is one of our many patients who has experienced HA and been impressed by the results,

“I had almost immediate relief from the pain and stiffness in my knee after a single dose of Hyaluronan. The effect was dramatic and lasted for 3 years. I have been able to climb and decent stairs without pain”.

Do
get in touch to see if you could benefit from Hyaluronan.

RUN LAB

A couple of months ago, we introduced the newest member of our physiotherapy team, Jon Grayson, and an exciting new product – Run Lab.

Well, Mr Grayson’s feet are now firmly “under the table” and our Run Lab #1 and #2 sessions have been highly popular. The best thing however has been getting to know lots more runners and running clubs from across the city – helping them to stay injury free and improve their performance.

Jon was previously a running specialist in London for 10 years but has remarked on how high the standard of running is in Sheffield. We would love to connect with more runners and clubs form across the city and are happy to extend our half price Run Lab offer until the end of September.

Do
get in touch to find our more about Run Lab, see what we could offer your club or to take us up on this offer.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
As you can see – we’ve been busy! We are delighted to be able to offer another bespoke service here at The Physios – Shockwave therapy.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) has become the go to treatment for chronic tendon and facia conditions such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis. Consistently the scientific evidence has shown shockwave to expedite the recovery of these chronic conditions – reducing pain, restoring function and increasing the capacity of the tissues to recover quickly and efficiently.

So whether you are a keen sports person with a flare up of an old injury or have a longstanding tendon condition (such as Achilles tendinopathy or golfers/ tennis elbow), we are confident that we have the best equipment we can get our hands on and are providing our patients with the best current practice available.

Johnny provides these bespoke clinics throughout the week so do
get in touch to see if we can help.
