ERB TESTING FOR GRADES 2 - 4
Students in Grades 2, 3 and 4 will participate in the Comprehensive Testing Program published by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB), as part of T/E's assessment program. Testing is scheduled for October 4 - 7. It is important to be on time to school on test days.
BEFORE AND AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS AVAILABLE AT BEAUMONT
After School Clubs Sponsored by HSA:
The After School Clubs will begin next week for 8 weeks. Clubs run from 3:30 to 4:30. Please refer to your After School Club flyer for pick-up location for your club. Contact Paula Cardenas (Hodgman) or Katie Donnelly
Chess Club: The Fall season will begin Tuesday, October 4 and ends on December 6. Meetings will be held in the cafeteria on Tuesdays from 7:45 am - 8:30 am. See attached flyer and registration form for more information.
After-school Sports: The After School Sports fall program will start October 10 and the winter session will begin in January. The sessions will be filled on a first come-first serve basis.

The After School Sports Program runs from 3:30-4:30pm. All students should be picked up outside in the car pool circle at 4:30. Please be on time when picking up your child. Lateness could result in withdrawal from the After School Sports privilege.
All students who participate in any scholastic activities are required to be fully covered by insurance in case of accident or injury. Please fill out the attached Insurance Exemption and Waiver Form, and return it with the registration slip to Mrs. McConaghy by Wednesday, October 5th.
WALKING CLUB
Walking Club needs your help. Walking club is a simple, fun way to get involved and see your kids in action on the playground. Walking club runs during recess on Tuesdays and Thursday, October 4 through November 15. Volunteers cover two shifts: First and Second Graders 11:20-12:30 or Third and Fourth Graders 12:30-1:30. SUPPORT OUR SUPERHEROES
As many of you know, Beaumont's very own superhero, Michael Tellado and his family returned to their hometown in Florida this summer. Michael and his family continue to demonstrate tremendous strength and courage in his fight against cancer. At Beaumont, we would like to show our continued support for Michael by inviting your child to create a "Superhero Salute." If you choose, please return the attached coloring sheet with a one dollar donation by Wednesday, October 5. All proceeds will go directly to Michael's medical treatment and pain management therapy. We will display all completed superheroes in the main lobby and will send photos for Michael and his family to enjoy!
KWAME ALEXANDER AUTHOR VISIT
Kwame Alexander will be visiting Beaumont on Wednesday, October 26th, with a 9am presentation for grades K-2 and a 10am presentation for grades 3&4. For students who have purchased a book (book order form attached), there will also be a book signing in the library immediately following the 10am presentation where they will be able to meet Kwame face to face. FIELD TRIP VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED TO HAVE BACKGROUND CLEARANCES
Parent volunteers who wish to be chaperones on field trips are required to have background clearances. Please see the district website under Human Resources for information to obtain background clearances. You can also call the Beaumont main office at 610-240-1400 if you have any questions or need assistance to obtain your clearances.
The next field trip is scheduled for second grade on October 18. Second grade is still in need of field trip chaperones. Please contact your child’s teacher about the trip and please be sure to have your clearances sent into the school district’s human resources department to be eligible to be a chaperone.

INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY AT BEAUMONT
From Suzanne Walsh, art teacher:
On September 15th all students at Beaumont Elementary School celebrated International Dot Day inspired by Peter H. Reynolds, the author of the book, The Dot. Everybody wore clothing with dots and walked around humming THE DOT SONG. This year, approximately 129 countries and 6.5 million students participated!
The book is about inspiring children to make their mark and make it matter… good life skill lessons. Special Area teachers participated. Our librarian read the book to the students. In music class they listened to The DOT song. Kids participated in “dot” games in P.E. In art class, we created dots in lots of different ways - dots made with bingo markers, liquid water colors dripped on coffee filters, tempera paint, crayon and glue are a few ways that we “dotified” the school. Good lessons learned while having a lot of fun.

HALLOWEEN PARADE
The Beaumont Halloween Parade begins at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 31. The parade will begin at the main front entrance, continue along the carline, and into the carpool circle doors. Please do not park your cars in the car pool circle so we can have enough room for all parents to see the parade. There is extra parking available across the street at Hilltop Park. Please be aware that any parent visiting the parade or parties must be immediately recognizable in accordance with our district safety guidelines. Any parent choosing to wear a costume should not wear any part of the costume that covers the face.
The classroom parties are scheduled for 2:15. Parent/volunteer dismissal will be at 3:00. The morning Kindergarten students’ parade will begin at 9:30 AM. They will parade through the hallways of the school and in the car pool circle. Their party will begin immediately following the parade.
Remember when choosing costumes please avoid costumes that include:
1. gory subjects – costumes depicting monsters, blood, death, horror creatures, controversial political figures, or other frightening characters.
2. weaponry – items resembling guns, swords, rifles, knives, or other weapons
3. avoid full face coverings – material or masks that inhibit vision or breathing or cause students to be unrecognizable. Latex masks are not allowed.
Police presence is scheduled for this event to follow our schools and district’s safety
practices.
