My Grandmother's Kitchen: Yoghurt, Kefir and Simple Cheese

This month the kitchen at the Women’s Centre will host a food fermenting class with local herbalist Colleen Emery of Emery Herbals in Winlaw, BC.

Think you don’t have the tools or space to make homemade yoghurt? You will be surprised! Colleen will guide us through the process of dairy fermentation no matter what your kitchen set up. We will discuss the many health benefits of adding homemade ferments to your diet and consider the contraindications of using fermented foods.

We will start a batch of yoghurt together and then sample some freshly fermented dairy products on top of beet borscht soup and warm bread.

Join us Wednesday, October 19th 5:30-7:30 pm

$5 per person includes the workshop and supper.

Please pre-register with Jen at the email below.

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!

Join us in our annual circle and march to Take Back the Night, October 27 at 5:30.

All genders are welcome to participate in the circle, however only self-identified women will march.

Take Back the Night is an international event and non-profit organization with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms. Hundreds of events are held in over 30 countries annually since the 1970's.  Events are intended as a protest against rape and other forms of sexual, relationship and domestic violence.

Join us in solidarity of safety for all women, and safety for our daughters.
