Summer has come and gone, but over a hundred lucky factory workers are still reminiscing about the last couple of months. Why lucky and why reminisce? These workers participated in our Factory Child Friendly Spaces pilot program, an initiative that allows parent workers and children to spend more time together during the summer vacation. Six factories in China took part and throughout it all we spoke to dozens of parents to see how and whether this program benefited them and their children.

For some parents, this was the first time they got to spend so much time with their children, many of whom are being raised by their grandparents in their hometowns. While we are still measuring the impact of the program, the first round of feedback has been very positive. Please see the section below for more details.

Since the publication of "Auditors' Insights on Child Labor in Asia" in June, CCR CSR has continued its emphasis on building awareness and knowledge on child labor prevention and remediation. In Myanmar, our "Child Labor Response Action Project" is moving forward full steam, and our new online child labor resources platform for China is now accessible.

If you would like to know more about any of our services or projects, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

We wish you all a very happy and productive Autumn.

Factory child
friendly spaces - BLOGGING ONE STORY AT A TIME

"I feel closer to my child now. I'm so relieved that she can be here," Ms. Huang, mother of a 6-year old girl who attended a Factory Child Friendly Space this summer told us. Ms. Huang is not the only one who experienced a remarkable change. We've been documenting stories from parent workers in our new blog section, and will continue to share stories from the factory floor on a regular basis.

As our latest report shows, child labor is still an issue in supply chains in China. Despite this, there have been very few resources for auditors, factory managers and third parties to support and guide the first responders of child labor – until now.

Developed as part of CCR CSR's "WeSupport" project – a large-scale project funded by Disney, Clas Olson, ICA and HP that supports young workers, migrant parent workers and line managers through trainings and learning tools – the child labor resources platform provides local information on relevant laws and regulations, schools and service providers. myanmar child labor prevention & remediation training

Responding to an urgent need to capacity build and train local service providers, factory HR staff and factory management in effective child labor prevention and remediation techniques, CCR CSR conducted three intense training sessions in Myanmar this July with the aim of benefiting supplier factories of a major international garment manufacturer.

All three training sessions were lively and well received by the participants, many of whom had never received training in child labor before. Read the full article here

"What I Wish My Line Manager Knew"

We recently invited young factory workers to tell us what they would like their line managers to know (anonymously of course) through our WeChat platform. Here's what some of them had to say!

"Yes, there is a wage gap. Everyone is different but the benefits can't be too little. Without enough benefits, there's something lacking in the air, in the culture, and in one's sense of belonging."

"Maybe we've had some unpleasant encounters in the past, but in terms of management you've been doing a good job. The thing I want to say to you most is that I hope you can be more considerate towards us, and also happy Mid-Autmum Festival!"
