October News: Autumn’s warming embrace welcomes E17 Designers’ to the Barbican OpenFest and back to Walthamstow Village for our main Autumn Fair!

Markets appear in Wiliam Morris’ description of the new world where people exchange goods and news of the day: ‘art made by the people for the people, as a joy to the maker and the user’. We think our varied and affordable selection of art, jewellery, fashion, textiles and more, offers a chance to do just that!

Barbican Centre plays host to E17 Designers, all day from 12 noon till 7.30pm. Choose from a selection of high quality, hand-picked and handmade items, from art prints and illustrations, fashion wear, ceramics, accessories and more, made by talented designer-makers from in and around Walthamstow, E17. From the Walthamstow Garden Party and beyond…part of OpenFest: explore the Centre and get a taste of everything the Barbican has to offer, from interactive art installations to dance, pop-up theatre to tours of the building – and it’s all free

Free entry, OpenFest all day from 10am, E17 Designers' Market open from midday

Back in the Village for our main Autumn Fair! Regulars and new designers are back in this popular Village venue: ceramics from Moss Stitch, fabulous cards from Vintage Playing Cards, jewellery from Fused and Fired, pterodactyls and other creature monsters, which are made of recycled clothing from Hester de Graag.
Activities for children from Creative Biscuit, where you can where you can customise your own pottery to make your home an even prettier place. Choose, Paint, Pay and your pottery can be collected after firing at their South Woodford Creative Biscuit Ceramic Café or delivered on request!

£2 entry includes taster drink from Damn Cheeky Wines, entry in the Goody Bag prize draw plus crackly tunes from our favourite ‘spinster’, the one and only Auntie Maureen!
