Humans have caused climate change for 180 years

An international research project involving ICTA-UAB researcher P. Graham Mortyn has found human activity has been causing global warming for almost two centuries, proving human-induced climate change is not just a 20th century phenomenon. (+info)

Coastal Occupation Affects Tropical Reefs in Brazil

Researchers from the ICTA-UAB, the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) and the Federal University of South of Bahia (UFSB) in Brazil warn of the negative environmental impacts of unplanned coastal occupation on tropical reefs and consequently on the conservation of marine biodiversity. Researchers state that this process has already taken place in Western Mediterranean. (+info)

Eco-designing products and services with edTOOL®

Companies are integrating eco-design principles into their products in order to decrease their environmental impacts and increase their competitiveness. However, this is a challenging process, as the application of eco-design is not straightforward. With this problem in mind, Sostenipra from ICTA-UAB and Inèdit Innovació created the edTOOL® software to help and guide companies through the eco-design process. (+info)

Very large ICTA- UAB's presence in Budapest 5th International Degrowth Conference

The 5th International Degrowth Conference took place in Budapest from 30 August to 3 September 2016. For the first time, in parallel to the conference, an open festival “Budapest Degrowth Week” featured practical workshops, panel and participatory discussions, and also concerts, artistic performances and interactive tours throughout the city. (+info)

Secondary pupils will go “Mad about Science” with ICTA-UAB

For the third year running, the ICTA-UAB will be organising the course “Mad about Nature”, part of the programme "Mad about Science" of the Catalonia-La Pedrera Foundation, with the aim of enriching young people's knowledge of the natural environment and the latest study methods, and of putting them in touch with top researchers in this field. The enrollment period for the programme ends on October 23th. (+info)

ICTA-UAB researcher Mar Cartró was awarded the Alwyn Gentry Award for the Best Student Oral Presentation at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Association of Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC), held in Montpellier (France), which this year was focused on “Tropical Ecology and Society: reconciling conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity”. (+info)

Last September, 54 students submitted their Master Thesis of the 2015-16 edition of the Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability (SAES). The new edition has started in September. (+info)
