Welcome to the September 2016 edition of Digital Direction, the IAB Ireland newsletter. This month, we are delighted to announce the full speaker line up for IAB Mobile Connect 2016 at the Guinness Storehouse on the 27th of October 2016.
Mobile is topical, as IAB reports that
 Global Mobile Advertising revenues reached
37 billion in 2015, with Mobile Display advertising driving the investment at 92.6%.

We are also delighted to welcome the new agency member Encendo to IAB Ireland.

Mobile is everything: IAB Mobile Connect 2016 

Mobile is everything is the theme for this year's IAB Mobile Connect  event, on October the 27th in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin.

According to the Google Consumer Barometer 2015, 75% of the Irish population use a smartphone.  35% use their smartphones more to go online than desktop / laptops, with a further 34% saying it's equal between smartphone and desktop / laptop.  From the recent IAB Digital Video research (June 2016),  61% of VOD viewers consume video on their smartphones (up from 49% in 2015).

Launch of Global Ad Coalition welcomed by IAB

Coalition for Better Ads Will Use Research & Advocacy to Develop and Implement New Standards

The Coalition for Better Ads was announced at DMEXCO in Germany on the 15th of September. The Coalition sees leading international trade associations and companies involved in online media joining forces to improve consumers’ experience with online advertising. The Coalition plans to  leverage consumer insights and cross-industry expertise to develop and implement new global standards for online advertising.

Digital Upfronts 2016 - the countdown is on!


 

The countdown is on to the inaugural IAB Ireland Digital Upfronts event in the CCD next Tuesday the 4th of October. This showcase event is exclusively for Advertising Agencies and Brand Advertisers, where they can hear first about the forthcoming innovations and premium digital offerings for the year ahead from Online Publishers and Tech suppliers.
