ADEC October

October is one of the most fun months at ADEC. Once the leaves start turning and the air turns crisp, ADEC clients begin talking about two big events: the Village Women's Annual Halloween Bash and Basketball Wednesdays.

If you've never been to an ADEC Silver Bullets Basketball game, you are missing out. Starting Wednesday, Oct. 12 with 6:30 p.m. staff vs. clients game, every Wednesday during fall and winter is a banner day of competition, smack talk and encouragement at ADEC. For every ounce of smack talk delivered here at ADEC (and there's a lot!), there's just as much teamwork and support for each individual player during the games. You'll laugh, you'll cheer and you may even tear up a little - all during just one game.

So, take this Open Door challenge, and come out to at least one basketball game this year. You won't regret it, and you may even  find yourself coming out to a few more.

Family Listening Session with DDRS & The Arc

Please plan to attend this event at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, at ADEC's Bristol location. At this meeting, representatives from the Indiana Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) will:

  • Seek feedback from families and self-advocates regarding their needs and ways DDRS can support opportunities for individuals with disabilities to maximize their full potential and participate in their families and community

  • Provide information to key stakeholders about the LifeCourse Framework initiative

  • Share details on new federal laws impacting individuals with disabilities.

While these meetings have a focus on families and self-advocates, local area providers, community leaders, school representatives and other stakeholders are invited and encouraged to attend. Please click here for more information or to register to attend.

ADEC proudly advocates for and serves people with developmental and
cognitive disabilities so they live lives full of choice and possibility.
