President's Note
Dear TACL Family,
The weather is cooling down, and autumn is in the air. Did you eat some moon cakes for Mid-Autumn Festival? Tweet us @taclorg to share how you celebrated this delicious holiday.
TACL held our September Convention in Boston during Labor Day weekend, which included meeting Taiwanese American superstars Tommy Chang (Superintendent of Boston Public Schools), Simon Hedlin (contributor to The Economist), and Michelle Wu, President of the Boston City Council. We were challenged to "Disrupt" and re-imagine our role in the Taiwanese American community. How did we do? Check out our recap.
Our event-packed third quarter included TAP-NY's TAP Olympics to kick-off Brazil's Rio Olympics; the Political Internship Program's successful summer internship in LA with a lobbying trip to Sacramento; TAP-Austin's night market that attracted over 1,500 attendees, among many other cool events.
Read more about Q3 2016 below, including our Get Out the Vote initiative! Voting is a privilege, so make sure you exercise your right on November 8th. #TAvote
As always, we want to hear from you, so if you have thoughts, suggestions, comments, etc., feel free to email us at tacl@tacl.org and remember to “Like” us on Facebook.
Best,
Jacqui Wu
TACL National President

TACL 2016 September Convention in Boston
During Labor Day weekend, we had a whopping 90+ people at our annual TACL September Convention, hosted for the first time in the city of Boston. Thanks to the tireless efforts of TAP-Boston, its members, board, and volunteers, this gathering of TACL family and friends was treated to amazing programming, delicious lobsters, and of course, karaoke! Themed “Disrupt”, we were all challenged to reimagine our role in our community — and how we could give back. Read more about our weekend of TACL family bonding and fun here.

Here is our interview with PIP Director, Jeff Shieh, to learn about what our interns accomplished and lobbied for this past summer.

TAP-NY Olympics: A Rio Analysis
On a cool summer day in August, TAP-NY held one of its biggest events of the year – the annual TAP Olympics. The event pitted teams of four (each team had to have at least one woman) against each other in games testing strength, mental fortitude, and teamwork. What made the event such a success? Click here to take a look, and draw some parallels to this summer’s Rio Olympic Games while we’re at it!
