SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2:  10:45

“Food for the Body & Soul!”
Please join us for our Preschool Sunday Celebration, Sunday, October 2, as preschool/afterschool students offer a special presentation - and we join in prayers of blessing and appreciation for our staff!   In addition, our children’s artwork and items will be on display! There will be a reception with light refreshments following the service.

Animal Blessing Service

Sunday, October 2 @ 4pm

At 4 pm, we will have our annual animal blessing on the front lawn. Bring your fish, hamsters, dogs, cats, and whatever crawls, slithers, and swims around your house! We encourage all animals to be on a leash or in a cage/bowl. If your pet is nervous around people, he/she may remain in the car with the windows down!

“Hearts & Treasures” Adult Faith Milestone

Continues This Sunday @ 9:30am

Adult Faith Milestone continues this Sunday at 9:30am in the Sanctuary.  We are blessed to have Mr. Micah Velilla leading this special series on “More than Money Matters” – which invites us to explore our relationship with God and how it guides our life-responses as disciples in daily decisions.  It is a wonderful opportunity for adults at all stages of life (incl. HS students).

Fall Cottage Gatherings for Everyone!

Our Cottage Gatherings over the past few years have been wonderful experiences, and we are excited to assemble our updated In-Touch groups this fall.

These gatherings provide opportunity for our LS family of faith to catch up with each other regarding our Spirt-Tugs and God-Stories, as well as offer focus on our G.I.F.T. (Growing in Faith Together) Discipleship emphasis.  At this year’s fall gatherings, everyone will receive a copy of their 2017 G.I.F.T. Discipleship Commitment Card, plus an updated version of the LS Time & Talent sheet.  Our commitments will be offered and celebrated on Sunday, Nov. 13 at our big G.I.F.T. Lessons for Sunday, October 2

First Reading: Habakkuk 1:1-4; 2:1-4

Injustice and violence in the time leading up to the Babylonian exile move this prophet to lament: How can a good and all-powerful God see evil in the world and seemingly remain indifferent? God answers by proclaiming that the wicked will perish, but the righteous will live by faith.

Psalm 37:1-9

Commit your way to the Lord; put your trust in the Lord. (Ps. 37:5)

Second Reading: 2 Timothy 1:1-14

This message written from Paul to Timothy is a personal message of encouragement. In the face of hardship and persecution, Timothy is reminded that his faith is a gift of God. He is encouraged to exercise that faith with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Gospel: Luke 17:5-10

On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus instructs his followers about the power of faith and the duties of discipleship. He calls his disciples to adopt the attitude of servants whose actions are responses to their identity rather than works seeking reward.

Church Humor...

Do you have some church humor you'd like to share? We would love to share it too! Send your humor to Lisa in the office.
After starting a new diet I altered my drive to work to avoid passing my favorite bakery. I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning and as I approached, there in the window were a host of goodies. I felt this was no accident, so I prayed ... "Lord, it's up to you, if you want me to have any of those delicious goodies, create a parking place for me directly in front of the bakery."
And sure enough, on the eighth time around the block, there it was! God is so Good!"
