Here's October!
Hello again from BiPhoria: welcome to our monthly update. The weather's suddenly taken a turn for the chilly and autumn is upon us.
What a packed month it's been, with two big Prides,
Bi Visibility Day, Stonewall's second Bi Role Models
event, the launch of new bi book
Purple Prose and much more!
Chester's Big Day
BiPhoria were along at Chester LGBT Pride this Saturday, our second time there.
It was a cracking day out and we got a warm welcome to our bi info stall - lots of new people signed up for the email list (
hello!) and our big bag of bi literature was almost completely empty by the end of the day. Great to meet so many new people:
hello all of you!
Bolton: Bi & Proud!
We were delighted to be at
Bolton for their second Pride festival last weekend. While we didn't take either of the awards we were shortlisted for, we did run street stalls for two days as well as take part in the Bolton Pride parade, the bi flag flew from the building next to the Town Hall, and on behalf of BiPhoria I was one of the closing speakers at the end of the festival on the Sunday evening.
Thankyou!
Big thanks to the organisers of two fundraisers for us last month; Jasmine & Jackie for the performance night at Gulliver's and LGBT Foundation for the raffle tickets that were sold during Bi Visibility Day week raised a whopping £160 between them - just as we were counting the pennies ready to make our new print run of
Getting Bi In A Gay / Straight World too!
Watch this space for news of that, and one last reminder of letting us know any changes you'd like to see in the third edition.
Manchester Meetup
Tomorrow (Tuesday 4th) is our monthly
BiPhoria "talky space" meeting for bisexual people (and those who think they might be bi). Join us at the LGBT Foundation, 5 Richmond Street, M1 3HF. 7.30pm start for new members;
facebook event here.
We have our second
Bi Boardgames night a week
Friday - the 14th - at LGBT Foundation from 7.30pm.
Facebook event here.
After that our next meet is the
bi coffee meetup on
Sunday 16th, at the Vienna Coffee House, Mosley Street, central Manchester - just across the tram tracks from City Art Gallery. We meet from 1pm: look for the table with a lion on it;
facebook event here.
Finally this month there's a
bi pub meet on
Tuesday 18th from 8pm at the Waterhouse, next to Manchester Town Hall. Again, look for the lion;
facebook event here.
That's all our bi news for now...
