CMS Announces MACRA Final Rule - CMS announced on October 14th, 2016 that it will offer providers more flexibility to comply with payment reforms called for under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). A few of the highlights from the announcement include modified reporting requirements for the first year starting January 2017 , expansion of Advanced APM’s and a new quality payment program website which includes tools to help navigate the MIPS reporting options. For more information, please read our extended post here.
Important Information on MU Attestation for 2016 - If you are a returning participant, you will be required to attest for the entire 2016 calendar year (January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016) by the attestation deadline of February 28, 2016. By successfully attesting and satisfying all other program requirements, you will avoid the payment adjustment in 2018. If you are a new participant, the EHR reporting period is a minimum of a continuous 90-day period between January 1 and December 31, 2016. However, to avoid the payment adjustment in 2017 and 2018, you must have successfully attested by October 1, 2016. If you are attesting after October 1st, you will only avoid the payment adjustment being enforced in 2018. For more information on Meaningful Use, please visit the CMS website.

Electronic Secondary Claims Denied on Emdeon Vision - Have you experienced the following error message or something similar in Emdeon Vision: "Service Line COB Information: Invalid; the sum of all Service Line Paid Amounts plus the Service Line Adjustment Amounts for each payer must equal Line Item Charge Amount"? If so, it is related to the fact that you are no longer sending the primary paper EOB as you did with your paper claims. The information must be sent via Claim Adjustment Reason Codes. Learn more about this process here.
STI Revenue Cycle Management Division - As most of you are aware, STI Computer Services, Inc. acquired Innovative Medical Solutions, Inc. (IMS) in May of 2010. The alliance of these two companies allowed us to offer enhanced services to our customers by combining a robust Practice Management/EMR software system with quality Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) services. In an effort to keep things uniform, we are now referring to IMS as the STI RCM Division. Please note, there have been no changes in management or in our processes. This is simply a way to classify each department by their service levels. We value your business and would greatly appreciate your assistance with our name uniformity.
Standard Glaucoma Codes Claims Denied  - Do you see glaucoma patients? Starting October 1, 2016,  your standard glaucoma codes may be denied if you haven't upgraded to our newest 6.1.7 version. The most recent codes for glaucoma no longer have the X so be sure to select from these newly published options, specifying not only what stage but also left vs. right vs. bilateral. Learn more here on these errors and how to upgrade today.
Two Computer Monitors For Better Productivity
Did you know that having two monitors on your desktop may increase productivity, reduce eye strain and save paper? By having multiple applications opened at the same time and viewable between 2 separate monitors, you’ll be able to multitask more efficiently between applications whether it is Practice Manager, Clinical or another site (i.e, labs, hospitals, Navinet). Read here for more information on how purchasing an additional computer monitor for your office can improve your productivity.
