Car Fires, Would a Fire Extinguisher Help? |
|
|
<<First Name>>,
If you have been watching the news in the last few months, there have been a number of stories about car fires. Without fail (thank goodness), there is always someone that comes to the rescue with a fire extinguisher. As I was driving on the freeway the other day, I witnessed a car on fire. Everyone had gotten out safely and there was even a motorcycle policeman on the scene. But for some reason, this car was still burning.
I do not carry a fire extinguisher in my car and I have been considering it. My concern is, where is a safe place to keep it? If it is accessible to my seat, I should mount it, so it would not become a projectile in the event of an accident. If it is in my trunk, then it is not easily accessible. There also is the question of high temperature inside your car and would the extinguisher explode if it is over 120 degree. After doing a bit of research, the answer to that question is no; it will not explode. It might leak a little (a valve will release some of the pressure, so it will not explode) according to what I read.
If you want to be a Good Samaritan, having a car specific extinguisher would help you be safer on the road and potentially help others. I am not encouraging you to be a hero, just prepared. Please do your own research before mounting it in your car and find the best location, so it is safe for you and your passengers. You never know, if one day the person that needs the extinguisher may be you. |

Summer is almost over but it is never too late for a refreshing appetizer.

Ingredients:
Watermelon
Small Chunks of Feta (one container)
Fresh Mint
Shelled Pistachios (Trader Joes has these in a bag)

Directions:
Cube the watermelon and place it on an appetizer dish. Squirt fresh lime juice over the watermelon.
Chop fresh mint and spread on top. Sprinkle feta cheese on top. Spread pistachios over entire dish. Serve with toothpicks and enjoy! |
