Hi <<First Name>>
We are proud as punch to be the Supreme Sponsors for the Te Puke Business Excellence Awards again this year (pictured left are 2015 award winners; Bridgestone Tyres). The awards are an important part of our local business community, and we wish all of the nominees the best of luck as they work through the judging process. Winners will be announced and presented at the awards evening on Friday 28th October.
If you're interested in finding out more about the awards, see the Te Puke Business Excellence Awards website for more info.

Also in the vein of celebrating local businesses, in this issue we again feature a profile on one of our clients, Rob Lilly from Stash It Storage (see story below). Enjoy the read, as well as news and views from us.

What's in store for Rob and Gabi

From an interview with Rob Lilly, Stash It Storage.
Sitting, relaxed and comfortable in his office, looking over thriving Mt Maunganui streets, Lance’s client Rob Lilly talks about the journey he and wife Gabi have enjoyed in their lives. There are many entrepreneurs in this country, and certainly Rob would not call himself even that, but what stands out about Rob is his determination to enjoy life and do what inspires and excites, and that includes always looking for the next opportunity, and doing business with people he likes and trusts.

Inland Revenue myIR

The IRD offer a service called myIR. This is a service where you can manage all of your Inland Revenue matters online. However, we strongly encourage you NOT to set up an individual myIR yourself. As your Accountant we have already linked you to our Practice myIR, enabling time extensions for your tax returns along with other privileges. If you have already set up an individual account, please contact us so we can arrange to have the account removed, or we can answer any queries you may have.

TEAM FOCUS:

A warm welcome to Kirsty

Kirsty has joined our wonderful administrators who support our accounting team, and is managing our reception desk in the afternoons. Kirsty has spent over 20 years working in administration for Chartered Accountancy Practices, so she talks our language. She’s recently moved to the Bay with her husband and young son from ….. Auckland. It won’t take her long to settle into the Bay lifestyle and the fun working environment at Bennetts Proactive.

Introducing Michelle

We also have a new addition to our senior accounting team. Michelle has come to us from a large Tauranga accounting firm, and has over 15 years of accounting knowledge behind her. Michelle is an Associate Chartered Accountant and is currently finishing her Chartered Accountancy qualification. She will be a great support to Lance, and we look forward to learning from her technical knowledge bank. In her spare time, Michelle has a passion for playing squash and has recently played in a national squash competition in New Plymouth.

HOUSEKEEPING:

GST returns - advance notice

As our office will be closed on Friday 21st and Tuesday 25th October for Labour weekend, we will be targeting all GST returns for the Aug/Sept period to be completed by 20th October. We would be grateful for your assistance in getting your information in on time please.

Paying tax online

Just a reminder that if you pay your tax online – please give us a call or send an email to admin@bennettsproactive.co.nz. If we haven't heard from you we assume that you haven’t paid, and as we don’t want you to get penalised, we will ring you to remind you. However, a quick email or call to us to say you have already paid will mean we don't need to pester you with follow up phone calls.

Cash Transactions

Cash transactions and tradies continue to be the focus of the IRD investigations work. If you have any concerns, contact us, before the IRD do.

Audit Shield

We just want to share a recent client experience with IRD investigations. The client, whom had chosen not to subscribe to Audit Shield insurance, was randomly picked by the IRD to be audited. Their fee to deal with the IRD audit ended up being $1200. Other clients paid their premium of $275, and were able to claim the insurance to cover our fee when they were reviewed. To find out more about Audit Shield insurance contact us.

BOOBOPS raffle

Our front window is about to be transformed into a river with the BOOBOPS raffle kayak on display. This is the second year we have donated the kayak as a raffle prize to the BOOBOPS, or Bay of Plenty Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team, as they fundraise for their travel fund. BOOBOPS is a group of breast cancer survivors, focusing on promoting wellness, fitness, fun and camaraderie for each other. Our accounting specialist, Dawn, is a member of the BOOBOPS dragon boat paddlers.
