Food Security & the Presidential Debate

For the first time in Presidential debate history, the public is being polled on potential questions for the candidates. The Open Debate Coalition, a coalition of advocacy and policy organizations from across the political spectrum, has made a deal with the TV networks to take public suggestion for Presidential debate questions. The 30 questions that receive the most votes will be considered. Right now questions about guns, refugees, voter ID, benefits fraud, immigrants, border security and more have thousands of votes.

HealthSpark Capacity Grants Applications Due!
|
|
|
The October 14 Deadline for the Fall Capacity Grants from HealthSpark Foundation is fast approaching! The foundation will once again offer grants of up to $10,000 to emergency food providers in Montgomery County in 6 different categories:
1. Data collection and evaluation
2. Physical and/or safety improvements to pantry space
3. Staff and/or board development
4. Strategic/business planning
5. Systems or operating improvements (including technology and accounting systems)
6. Transitioning to a choice pantry model
Capacity building activities are designed to assist an organization to operate more effectively and efficiently so it can best serve clients and the community. Activities should be completed within six months. Pantries may submit one project for consideration.
