Film History as Media Archaeology book launch
The book launch of Thomas Elsaesser’s Film History as Media Archaeology will take place at the EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam on October 14th.
Film History as Media Archaeology marks the 50th installment in AUP’s Film Culture in Transition series. This current study is the fruit of some twenty years of research and writing at the interface of film history, media theory and media archaeology, by one of the acknowledged pioneers of the 'new film history' and 'media archaeology'.

Joris Ivens Day, and the launch of The Conscience of Cinema
EYE is organising a special Joris Ivens Day to mark the launch of The Conscience of Cinema. The Works of Joris Ivens 1926-1989, a work by the Canadian film historian Thomas Waugh. On this evening Waugh will offer a short presentation about Ivens and the Netherlands. The programme also includes the screening of Indonesia Calling and De Brug (The Bridge) and a Q&A with the author.
The launch will take place on the 21st of October.
