Thank you, trashy folks!

Wow. Our inaugural event could not have gone better, and we have you to thank! Your support (and ticket sales) allowed the winning pecha kucha presentation, by Jessica Schreiber of FABSCRAP, to walk home with a $1,500 cash prize!

Check out the buzz on Instagram and other social feeds using #TalkTrashCity!
Our presenters, from left to right: Jessica Schreiber of FABSCRAP, Alessandro Ciari of GoBox, Jennifer Grove of Repeat Roses, and Amanda Prinzo-Weeks of Industrial/Organic
Our four innovators took the stage to pitch their trashy startups to a panel of industry experts: Robin Nagle (New York University), Greg Anderson (Department of Sanitation of New York), Amy Marpman (Recycle Track Systems), and Rob Kaplan (Closed Loop Fund). The panel asked questions, critiqued, and clarified, and we had time for the audience to ask questions at the end - thank you all for your participation, interest, and curiosity!
Artists displayed their art, made of trashy upcycled materials! Above left, Taezoo Park's Digital Being was a fan found abandoned and broken in Chelsea, brought back to live. Above right, Poramit Phantapalit's Jellyfish crafted from plastic grocery bags gently rippled in the breeze.
The event took place at Revision Lounge and Gallery, a space crammed with upcycled works of art, furniture, and design.

Thank you to our sponsors for helping to make this event possible:
