Celebrating peak season

After one of the driest summers in more than 30 years in southern New England, we have finally been getting a little rain. Thankfully it's looking like the trees will still impress us with their fireworks, as peak foliage season unfolds this month.

In a few weeks we will welcome visitors for neighborhood tours and/or outdoor work during our Open House and Work Day on October 22. Mark your calendar and cross your fingers for a beautiful day!

Homes that are for sale/rent in the Neighborhood will be available for viewing during our Open House. Whether you're just curious about cohousing and want to learn more, or you're serious about joining our neighborhood, come take a tour. All are welcome!

Please read on, and thanks for your interest in our multi-generational community.

When: Saturday, October 22, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What: Visit the neighborhood, meet residents, and ask questions. Tour available homes, check out the Common House, visit the farm, and perhaps take a hike along the Nubanusit Brook or see our one-of-kind wood pellet boiler plant.

Also consider joining us for our community lunch before or after your tour. Please make a lunch reservation by 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 20. The cost is $5 (unless you also participate in Work Day, in which case lunch is free; see information below).

Where: Nubanusit Neighborhood & Farm, Steele Road, Peterborough, NH, 03458

RSVP requested: Please email us if you plan to visit and to get more information about the day.
Fall Work Day

October 22 is Fall Work Day. This is a great opportunity to get a feel for community life through a shared work experience. If you would like to come for Work Day (8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) or just visit for lunch (promptly at 12:30 p.m.), please email to let us know. Lunch is $5, but there's no charge for those who come early to work! Please make lunch reservations by 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 20.

Modern Housing with Village Virtues
A New York Times Opinion Pages piece on cohousing

"Working families in the United States have many struggles today: expensive child care, not enough time to cook healthy meals, disconnection from nature, a sense of social isolation... Older Americans, a booming population, often end up segregated generationally and in dire need of care and companionship. What if there was a potential salve to all of these struggles?"
