Guild School News

Join us June 10-16, 2017 in Castine, Maine.

Have you ever tried to explain what Guild School is all about? Even when talking to fellow miniaturists, the conversation can be challenging. There just isn’t a simple way to describe the Castine Experience. If you look closely at this year’s logo and jigsaw puzzle theme, you will see some words that encapsulate many aspects of school: miniatures, art, education, sharing, joy, collaboration, improvement, accomplishment, encouragement, and friendship. That’s the idea behind the 2017 logo – if we put these concepts all together, we have the Guild School.

A Preview of Guild School 2017

32 Instructors who are all Artisans and Fellows of the Guild will be teaching 47 different projects. As many of you know, the proposals were truly amazing and the committee had a really difficult time narrowing it down. We have four new instructors. Two have been scholarship students at school – Elga Koster and Michael Yurkovic. New to school are Pia Becker and Chris Malcomson. All first-time instructors get a mentor. Check out the 2017 Instructors and Classes.

A Thank You to Guild School Volunteers

You know how much we rely on talented and dedicated volunteers to do so many of the jobs at school. Over the past years, three women have assumed the leadership of three important functions of our school week: Erin Carter, Ruth Clay and Sue Krzysko. We thank them for their commitment to these successful programs. Of course, within a few days, we had new volunteers to carry us forward: Peggy Bugg, Scholarship Chairperson; Audrey Tripp, Exhibit Coordinator; and Carol Hinkle, Auction Coordinator. Thank you for helping to make Guild School a success!
