Thed Björk scores Volvo’s first WTCC victory with last-gasp pass on Michelisz

Thed Björk has scored Polestar Cyan Racing’s first victory in the WTCC after working his way forward from sixth to the lead over 16 laps. The Volvo driver passed Honda’s Norbert Michelisz on the final lap, but crossed the line with broken suspension after contact from the Hungarian and could miss Race 2.

Michelisz leapt into the lead at the start from second on the grid in his Honda Civic, while pole-sitter John Filippi dropped back in his Campos Chevrolet Cruze, with Tom Chilton up to second in the privateer Citroën with the fast-starting Lada of Gabriele Tarquini up to third.
