Mount Agung

During the school holidays, some of our older children and staff had another hiking adventure. Last year they hiked Mount Batur and this year they hiked the biggest mountain in Bali, Mount Agung (which means large). The kids and staff, accompanied by four trained guides, left the base of the mountain at 1am and began the hike, arriving at the top at 5.30am and waited an hour watching the sunrise and seeing the magnificent view over Bali before beginning their decent down again to the bottom and eating breakfast in restaurant at the mountain base and heading home again.

C3 Hepburn Heights

During July a team from C3 Hepburn Heights, Australia came and spent time with Bali Life. They visited our Street Centre and Women’s Centre, spent time with our children, treated the staff to a dinner out in Jimbaran and also invited our children and staff to Tree Tops, Bedugul. Thank you for your time, generosity and willingness to be part of Bali Life Foundation and invest in our children and staff.
Independence Day

We celebrated Indonesian Independence Day with the children in our Children’s Home and also those who join lessons at the Women’s Centre.  It was great being able to treat the community this way with fun competitions and games as we celebrated Indonesia’s 71st year of Independence.
Happy Birthday

Each month we have a birthday celebration for each child who has had their birthday that month. It is a great opportunity to celebrate together milestones for children and staff.
Hair Cuts

Depax Barbershop, Ungasan came to our children’s home and treated our children to free haircuts. It’s a treat to get new hairstyles, keeping our children tidy and fresh. Thank you to the wonderful staff for volunteering your time and skills to support and bless our children.
Miss Universe Australia

Thank you to the contestants of Miss Universe, Australia for coming and spending time with Bali Life. The children enjoyed hanging out with you all, playing soccer and dancing together. Thank you also for sending the donation of school supplies.
Little Miracles

The team from Little Miracles, Australia blessed Bali Life with their love, care, encouragement as they spent time with our staff and children for a week in September. They spent two days training our staff in having vision and how we can love our children more through all areas of Bali Life. Our staff felt empowered and encouraged after their time with Little Miracles. Thank you also for treating our staff to dinner and spending time encouraging them. Our children also enjoyed their boys evening and girls evening out in your villa., and gifting three new skateboards. Thank you for generosity. We also appreciate so much the new teaching resources for our Street Centre children to help them learn to read and write and also those who spent time running craft activities with our children in the Street Centre and Community Centre. We are so grateful to each individual who was part of the team for our children and staff.
Street Centre
We’d like to thank all the people who come alongside Bali Life Street Centre and support our women and children and staff. We appreciate all who bring helping hands, donations and encouragement to make our centre a fun and safe place for our women and children to work, learn and play. We’d like to appreciate the following volunteers and visitors for their support:
Julie from Czech taught our women earlier in the year to make some bracelets, she then returned home and sold all the items to her friends and family and with the money and bought some  towels, hygiene products and drawing books for our centre. Thank you for your creative way of supporting our women and children.

Ane and Pablo came from Spain and spent time with our young children for a week in July. Thank you for spending time with our children and being part of Bali Life.

Sarah Jellard came from England in July and brought some toys, clothes and letters that her students wrote for our children. Our children loved seeing the pictures and hearing that people in other parts of the globe care about them and support them.
We also appreciate all who come and bring donations for our centre with hygiene products to encourage our children and women to have healthy and hygienic lifestyles. Most recently we would like to appreciate Emma and her team from Melbourne, Australia bringing gift packs for our women and also Brett Roberts and his team from Georgia, America bringing hygiene products which we shared with our children in the centre and community.
Maintenance Teams and Volunteers
We would not be able to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our women and children without the ongoing support and huge efforts of all the teams who come in with helping hands to repair, create and clean different areas of our centre.
In July a team from Hope Valley Uniting Church joined our street centre and painted our centre and classrooms. The centre looked magnificent after their work. We also appreciate all their time spent with kids, running activities, crafts, sharing and playing, bringing joy and fun to the kids. Thank you for your willing hands to work and contribute to our centre in practical ways.

Merdeka Outreach team came in August and worked extremely hard for two weeks to clear our front yard from overgrown bushes, organise our women’s workshop bottles, organise clothes in our storeroom, organise the outside shed, taught our children tooth brushing hygiene and also brought fun activities to spend time with our children.

Canggu Community School also brought a team of students to our centre. Our kids loved being able to hang out with the students from CCS. The team taught classes to our children, hung out with them and did craft activities and also worked hard to paint our library, creating a fresh and clean room. Some of the students were also able to visit a slum community where some of our women and children live and bless them and the other families living in the community with hygiene packs, a tooth brushing demonstration and games for the children. We also want to say thank you to CCS for inviting our older children to Tree Tops at the end of the week for an exciting and fun day out in Bedugul, our children had an amazing time with you all. Thank you Kayti Denham for arranging this.

We also want to thank Sarah, Lina and Janine from Germany, who came for a few weeks in September. They volunteered their time to help with cleaning and resetting sewing room and kitchen and also spent time running some activities and teaching basketball skills to the kids. Thank you for your generosity and time spent with us.
Another team from KRIK, Norway, is back in Bali and this time their team has been helping clear away bushes in the side of our building to make the environment more fresh and clear of mosquitoes. They have also been hard at work repairing our shed roof to protect items inside from weather. We appreciate all who can come in to help our centre maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment, promoting health and wellness for our children and women.

Thank you also to Peter and Sarah from Coffs Harbour for coming and giving medical checkups to our women and children and spending time with them and our staff. Your time and knowledge you shared is much valued.
Welcome New Staff

We are so excited to have our centre expanding with new women and children that we can welcome two new staff to our centre. Ibu Netty has joined our women’s workshop to help with the women as Ibu Claudia becomes part time. Ibu Netty has quickly become a valued part of our team connecting well with the women, children and staff. We also welcome Ka'Fani to our centre as our new teacher for our reading class.
Bridging School

Four of our children have enrolled in bridging school and have begun their formal exams, sitting their mid-semester tests in September. This is an exciting step for kids as they make their way into formal education and begin working their way into brighter futures with hope, dignity and purpose. Thank you to all who sponsor our children through formal education and bridging school. If anyone is interested in being part of supporting our children’s education we still have some children waiting for sponsors, please contact lyna@balilife.org for more information about sponsoring our children.

Suwung Community Centre

We opened our new community centre in Suwung, Sanur mid-September. This centre is located in a large garbage dump in the middle of Denpasar. The community centre is focused to empower women and children living in and around the garbage site, providing them with education and skills. We are starting with afternoon children's classes, mathematics, English language, sports and science for children 5 - 12 years old. Children are excited to join and love the chance to play on the green playground, building their skills on swings, monkey bars and green area. The playground area is open and available all day so before and after classes children can come and play and enjoy their time in the community centre. Thank you to Intercontinental Hotel Group Foundation for supporting this new project to empower women and children in Suwung Community.
