Striking Nurses to Appear at General Mills Shareholder Meeting

(Minneapolis) - September 26, 2016 - Striking nurses represented by the Minnesota Nurses Association with proxy rights will make an appearance before the annual shareholder meeting of General Mills on Tuesday, September 27.  Nurses hope to address the General Mills shareholders and  Executive Vice President John Church at the meeting. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Allina Health.

Nurses will hold a rally outside the Radisson Blu Hotel in downtown Minneapolis prior to the meeting, and then a few representatives with proxy rights will enter the meeting.

Nurses are engaging in an Unfair Labor Practice Strike that began at 7 a.m. Monday, September 5. Negotiations broke down Saturday, September 3, after a 22-hour marathon session when Allina negotiators left the bargaining table. Nurses have asked to address the Allina board directly with their proposals, but they have not received a response.
