Fall Teacher Luncheon
Parents of Kinder-2nd grade Patriots, we are asking for your help to provide our wonderful Parr staff with a Fall Luncheon on Friday October 7th.

Parents,
Last year, you helped Parr Elementary earn over $2,000 through your Box Top collections! Please continue to collect Box Tops all school year. Feel free to send them (trimmed; keep the expiration date; in an envelope or plastic baggie) in at any time to the Parr PTA (in the front office). Don't forget to write your students name and class on the envelope or sheet. 

New this year...Download the Box Tops Bonus App on your phone, and for certain products, you can scan your receipt and the school will get the credit!

We have two deadlines this year in terms of sending in Box Tops: October 20th and February 20th. We appreciate every Box Top you send in – it all adds up to free money for Parr!!   Keep up the great work! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Susie at boxtops@parrpta.org
 
The Gifted & Talented Program is designed for students who demonstrate significantly above-average achievement or potential in the areas of general intellectual ability, specific subject matter aptitude, and creative/productive thinking skills.  Criteria for selection include cognitive skill tests, professional recommendations, classroom performance and portfolio samples.  

The deadline for students in grades 1 – 12 is October 1, 2016. The deadline for accepting referrals for students in kindergarten is December 1, 2016.    For more information, please contact Alison McKinney, the Advanced Academic Specialist at Parr Elementary, 281-284-4100 or amckinney@ccisd.net.
 
On Monday, October 31st, the Alley Theatre will be presenting Oskar and the Big Bully Battle at 9am (K-2) and 10:15am (3-5). Parents are welcome to come see the program too.  Here is a description of the program: 
 
When a very thorny incident shocks the schoolyard, everyone is stumped and confused. But never fear, Oskar to the rescue! He quickly dons his detective hat. In this wacky adventure about the bullying cycle, Oskar learns that everyday comments can start a dangerous chain reaction that stops the whole school in its tracks. 

Oskar and the Big Bully Battle! encourages students to stand up for victims, while also teaching them how to express empathy for bullies—helping everybody on the playground to happily move forward together.
A new PTA T-Shirt is available to members (adults only) for $15. The shirt will be Dark Grey with "PTA" in patriotic colored lettering (see above). Order forms are available in the front office and at PTA sponsored events. On sale through September 30th. Look for shirts to arrive in October.
 
We encourage everyone to dine out for a good cause on Monday, October 3rd. The process is simple – patrons enjoy a meal at one of 67 participating restaurants and the restaurants donate a portion of the proceeds to the foundation to support its many programs benefiting CCISD students & teachers.

The 2016 Reflections theme is "What is your story?" Entry forms are in the Art Hall.  Click here to find out more information.   Entry deadline is October 21st.  If you need more information please contact Deana at reflections@parrpta.org 
Book Fair  will be from October 28th - November 11th in the Library.  Family night will be Tuesday, November 1st at 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

The link to order books online will be out approximately 2 weeks before the book fair begins on Symbaloo.     Proceed from the Book Fair will be used to purchase more books for our Library! 

Please come out and support our library!

 
Winter Wonderland is coming up on Saturday, December 10th from 9:00am - Noon. We are looking for vendors, the booth fee is $35.  If you are interested email Michelle at fundraising@parrpta.org
