Last chance to book!
Are you interested in widening your engagement activities and exploring new approaches for participatory decision making?
These events will be an opportunity for people and projects to share their creative approaches to engagement; also for other engagement practitioners to share their perspectives on related issues of co-design, co-production and participation.
These regional participation networks are suitable for anyone working in the field of participation and citizen engagement. This network event is also suitable for artists and academics who are interested in socially engaged practices and public participation.
Attendees come from a range of different organisations in the public and third sector that focus on a variety of issues. The events are suitable for anyone from any level within an organisation that has an interest in practical participatory work, including consultation officers, trustees, volunteers, development workers and managers.
These practitioner networks are lively, participatory workshops which provide an opportunity for peers to engage, share and support each other.
They provide an invaluable opportunity to:

This year we have endeavoured to keep costs down by not producing our own training brochure but continuing to include our courses as part of WCVA’s wider training programme.

Crowd sourcing training
The right course but in the wrong location or language? If you see a course that interests you on this training programme or more widely on our website but it is not being delivered in a location convenient for you or you would rather it be delivered in Welsh or bilingually then please do get in touch. If you can find interest for the course in your area then we can come to you and help you to promote it too.
Bespoke training and consultancy
We can come to you! All our courses can be delivered to you in your own organisation and it often works out to be cheaper depending on numbers. Welsh and bilingual courses are also available.

Method of the month: Emoji exit ticket
An emoji is an icon or smiley face used in electronic messages and web pages. The word emoji is a portmanteau of the japenese words that mean ‘picture’ and ‘character’.
Aim:
To evaluate a session, workshop or event using symbols (emojis)
Method:
- Give each participant an exit ticket (a free printable version is available) – this ‘ticket’ is customisable and you can change which emoji icons appear on the ticket
- At the end of a session, ask participants to circle the emoji(s) that reflect how the session made them feel and to explain the reason why
Variations:
- As emojis are a digital phenomenon; you could also ask people to send you emojis on social media instead of using a ticket
- If you have access to laptops or iPads, you can ask participants to complete the emoji exit ticket on the device.

Do you want to run some face-to-face engagement activities but aren't sure where to start?
We will work with you and your team throughout the whole process to; design, plan and run focus groups/workshops etc with your stakeholders, advise on recording and using qualitative feedback, writing up the report and debriefing to help you to identify good practice and learning for your organisation.
We support staff throughout the process and will work closely with your team. This is a practical way to build your organisation's capacity, experience and confidence in running face-to-face engagement activities, in a safe and supportive environment. We bring a wealth of experience and learning from working with other organisations which we will share throughout.

Investing in Nature Guide
Taking care of nature in our homes and gardens is one thing but how do we do it in the places where we work or volunteer?
Designed with community groups in mind, this new Investing in Nature guide helps us look at the negative impacts that we may inadvertently be having on nature and explains the simple, practical but often over-looked actions that we can take to Help Wildlife to Thrive. It also explains how you can influence others and do more across your group or organisation by Getting Nature into Your Environmental Policy.
