Apples everywhere!

We have been busy harvesting beautiful produce from our community garden, including plenty of beetroot, potatoes, sugar snap peas, broad beans, courgettes, onions, garlic, salad and herbs! The cabbages are now planted and there is still some food available if you would like to visit and take some home for tea. Just remember to weigh it and let us know what you took. Our community orchard on Park Road is blossoming beautifully. Thank you to all those who have been sharing their fruit tree produce with us, we have received kind donations of many kilos of apples, all being shared with the community or turned into tasty pies, pudding, crumbles and of course juice!

We hope you got a chance to try our freshly pressed apple juice at Rosyth Community Market, if not, don't worry, we are back again Sunday 30th October sharing our delicious homegrown fruity beverages.

News
New website! We are very excited to launch our new website www.eatsrosyth.org.uk
Find out more about our project, ways to get involved and a great Learning Zone where you can learn more about how to grow your own food, cooking tips and information on how to reduce your carbon footprint. Check it out and let us know what you think..

Our gardeners have been out and about helping residents grow their own food and preparing their gardens for next year. We have had new volunteers joining us and helping their neighbours with gardening and growing. We are always looking for more of this kind of community spirit so if you would like to get involved let us know.

Please keep reporting back with weights of food you have grown at home and telling us about your fruit trees. We are gathering this information to let Keep Scotland Beautiful know how we are reducing carbon emissions. As always if you are in Rosyth and keen to grow but don't know where to start, get in touch and see how we can help.

Our project aims to tackle climate change by growing and using local food and encouraging people to compost. We can reduce carbon emissions by 16 tonnes a year simply by getting 150 people in Rosyth composting at home. Are you interested in becoming one of our keen composters? This is a great way to use food and garden waste instead of putting it in the bin and sending it off to landfill. It  also makes the soil in your garden healthy and productive. If you would like a FREE compost bin, drop us an email or come and ask at the community garden.

We are now receiving food donations twice a week from local Tesco stores through their FareShare Foodcloud system, saving perfectly good surplus food from going to landfill. If you are a community group who would benefit from share of this please let us know.
